     We had a very difficult heart breaking situation with two dogs that we dearly loved, but that did not love each other, so we had to find a new home for one of them. We posted Xander on Rescue Me and got a response from a lovely couple that came to visit and decided Xander would be a good fit in their family. It was not easy to let Xander go, but it helped knowing that he would go to a good family that would love him as much as we did. This is a great service that allowed us to reach a much wider audience. I HIGHLY recommend supporting this great organization!

     This was a heartbreaking situation, to have to give up my long time companion and faithful friend. But I believe he's gone to 'Aussie heaven on earth!' I don't have any regrets for that reason alone and I'm pretty sure it'll be harder for me to adjust to not having Jazz around than it will be for him to chase cattle, run with horses and try to figure out what to do with a yak!!      The owners passed away and two dogs were abandoned. I was able to adopt the Corgi within a few days, thanks to the post on Rescue Me. Today, I adopted the Australian Shepard to an ideal home. The new owner has a large piece of property and is a former trainer and shower of Australian Shepards. Thank you to Rescue Me for allowing me to post these two dogs and find good loving homes for them.

     I have had many inquiries for Pumpkin in just a short week. A woman and her daughter will be picking her up on Wednesday. They are very excited and looking forward to having Pumpkin become part of their family. She has had an Australian Shepard once before and knows the needs that this breed comes with. We are so glad that she has had experience with Aussies prior to Pumpkin and we feel comfortable and think this is a good match for her and her new parents. We are sad to see her go, but we know she is going to a good home. Thank you, Rescue Me!

     It will be one month tomorrow since we adopted Tanner. I can't say enough about how great he is. We are taking him to puppy classes and the instructor thinks he is just wonderful. (She wanted to know where we got him so she could try to get one as good as him.) He is a puppy and does chew, but he has not damaged our house when left alone and just loves to go on rides in our side by side. We take him everywhere we can and so far, even gunfire hasn't bothered him. He loves to watch our horses and the neighborhood deer, but we do keep him in the yard so he won't be tempted to chase them. Tanner and I walk at least three miles a day and I can't wear him out! Thank you so much, Rescue Me, for helping us and many more like us to find happiness!

     Australian Shepherd volunteers graciously accepted an adorable Basenji mix to foster, which came out of a horrible hoarding situation, and I am so thankful they saved her. She came to live with me in her forever home one week ago and we have already had several adventures. Thank you, Rescue Me! And thank you, thank you for your kind hearts and for sharing your homes with dogs needing just what you provide. Bunny and I are both very happy.

I've been posting dogs to Rescue Me for a couple of years and have had great success adopting out dogs from our little shelter. At first most of the adoptions from Rescue Me people were out of state, now a great many local people are finding us on here too. I can't thank Rescue Me enough and am glad they are here for us. The Village of Santa Clara animal shelter owes a great deal of our success to them.

     I wanted to share a quick update on Bear's adoption. The very same day I posted his availability for adoption, I received a call from a person I knew. She had been looking for the perfect dog for a month and kept running into road blocks. The conversation went like this 'I couldn't believe it, I was skeptical about searching for a dog on the Internet, but after all the trouble we have encountered while finding a dog I looked at the Rescue Me Australian Shepherd page. I looked at the posting and there was a dog, not only in the county I live in but right up the road, and with a person I know.' I invited her to come meet him and they fell in love. He got the perfect country home with the perfect family. Sometimes things are just meant to be. Thank you.

     Just wanted to say thank you to Rescue Me for helping us find the perfect home for our adult Aussie 'Jackson'!!! A change in our living situation made it necessary for us to find another home for him. I placed a post through the site and had several inquiries. The one that stood out as the best fit for him turned out to be the perfect match!! Lamar and Jana were looking for another Aussie to adopt and after several communications we decided on a trial over Memorial Day weekend. He was immediately welcomed into their home and he felt content right away! Jack, as many Aussies, tended to be cautious of new people but that wasn't the case with the Jenkins family, and just after a day he was feeling right at home with them.      A family contacted me about Lago. She had been searching for four months for a new dog to add to her family. She found Lago on Rescue Me. So she headed across country in hopes she would like him. He was perfect, and he immediately took to them. He had been in the pound for longer than we like, because of a hot spot on his back leg, people didn't understand and would overlook him, but she didn't care.      I posted my Suzie's picture on this site at the recommendation of a friend when Suzie started to show a few signs of aggression. I live in the city and Suzie was getting agitated as she originally came from a more rural area. Although trainers told me they could work with her, they all felt she would probably be happier in a more rural area or on a farm. After posting her picture, I had three people respond immediately as to wanting to meet her and others who offered their moral support and some suggestions. Without this site's help, I don't know what I would have done. Suzie has found a new home with Bob, who knew exactly how to handle and work with her. I think she will be happy in her new home as she has room to run and some new sheep friends to play with. Last text I got, Suze and Bob were riding in his truck and she was licking his face. Thank you Bob for taking my Suzie, to all of you who offered words of encouragement and support and to Jeff Gold for creating Rescue Me.

     I fell in love with this beautiful boy the second we saw his picture on Rescue Me. He is already filling the hole left in our hearts by the loss of our beloved Benny last May who was also an Aussie Shepherd mix. Linda got the ball rolling with the adoption process right away checking our references and processing the application. She also facilitated our contact with Fran about four hours south of us. They had done a fantastic job getting Stanley started down a loving, structured path in life. Yesterday was a long, rewarding day as I had worked an overnight shift and got off at 7:00 AM before we hit the road to go down and meet Stanley at Fran's ranch. We were so excited to meet her and her daughters, but especially Stanley. He is even more handsome in person than the photo shows. It was obvious that it had been a great team effort to work with Stanley and provide him the strong training he needed. I admire these people willing to devote the time and effort it must take with the understanding they can't get too attached to these beautiful animals who will soon be leaving their homes. I am very grateful to Fran and her family, to Australianshepherdfurever and Rescue Me for getting us together.

     Rescue Me is absolutely amazing! Within 24 hours, I had at least a dozen interested adopters. I have placed Lola in an amazing home on five acres with two other Aussies. I am so happy she will have other dogs to play with and she will get to run and play and be active. I would recommend this site to anyone that finds themselves in need of rehoming a dog. The people I have talked with being all wonderful and true dog lovers.

     My mother passed away unexpectedly, just six days after her 87th birthday, leaving her faithful companion, Annie, without a home. On the last day of her life, Mother asked my brother to leave the hospital to go home and check on Annie. She felt Annie would be worried. When mother didn't come home, Annie was sad and confused. All of our family members already have multiple dogs, so it was our prayer to find a loving, forever home for 11 year old Annie. The loss of Mother was difficult, but not knowing Annie's fate made it even more distressing. Just one day after posting an Annie's story on Rescue Me, I received several messages from folks saying they'd like to meet Annie. On about the third day, I got a call. Wendy said she'd lost her 14 year old Aussie a month ago and she wanted to give Annie a home. I told her that Annie had been without grooming for over a year and I wanted to get her cleaned up before anyone saw her. Wendy said I had enough on my mind, that she would have her groomed and not to worry about anything. Wendy already had a small dog, so I told her Annie hadn't been socialized, that she was raised on a farm and I wasn't sure how she'd react to another dog. Wendy wasn't discouraged. We delivered Annie to Wendy and the love story began. The groomer came the next day, and Wendy presented Annie with a red sweater and a collar with rhinestones on it. Annie met her new brother, Bandit, and they hit it off immediately. I've been invited to visit Annie any time and Wendy has sent text messages and pictures to me on a regular basis, giving me updates on Annie's new journey. I'm so thankful for our good fortune. I believe Wendy was our angel, an answer to our prayers through Rescue Me.

     We are happy to announce that we have adopted a darling Mini Australian Shepherd all due to the services provided by Rescue Me! We adopted a rescue dog many years ago, but lost her seven months ago when she was 14. We were heartbroken and decided to look for another rescue. I checked many shelters and online sites for months looking for a dog to join our family. Then, I found Rescue Me where I could register for alerts and would be notified when new dogs were put up for adoption. That's how we found Jackson. I responded immediately to the posting, and the next morning I heard back! We had applied for so many dogs over the past months and seldom received a response. The owner did an excellent job describing Jackson's personality and needs. We wanted a calm, cuddly companion and that describes Jackson perfectly! We've only had him for a few days and can hardly believe how smart and perfect he is. Thank you Rescue Me and Jeff Gold for providing this wonderful service. We have our sweet little Jackson because of you!

     We fostered this amazing Red Merel Aussie until we found the right match. That didn't take long on Rescue Me at all. I was fortunate to find an amazing owner on the first shot. She knew about the need and knew what it requires to have one. She had plenty of land and lots of mental and physical work for him to do. This was my first time using Rescue Me and I was a little nervous. With this experience, I am quite pleased with the quick turn around.

I met one of the new moms at the vet this past Friday, her husband was the one who came to adopt the puppy. Very nice folks and good dog people!      I'm so pleased to announce that I've adopted Phil. Just this past spring our family received the sad news that our adopted eight year old male Australian Shepherd, Remington, came down with cancer. We did everything that was humanely possible to save him, but it just wasn't in God's plan. He brought so much joy to our family we couldn't bear the thought of being without him. So I made a pledge to him that I would continue to offer our home as a safe haven to another in his honor. Rescue Me is to thank for helping me honor my pledge.      I am so grateful for Rescue Me. After losing my Australian Shepard to old age, I was devastated. I thought I'd just see if there were any Australian Shepherd rescues, because I really believe in rescuing dogs. I never believed I'd find another, and there was Yodi. It took a few days to contact his previous owner as they had taken him to a shelter, but I finally did. Today I drove five hours to a wonderful shelter to get him. It was love at first sight. Aussies are so amazing. I'm not quite sure who is rescuing whom at this moment, but I know that it's all about the love and we are very happy!

     We've had our little miniature Australian Shepherd for almost two months now. When we first got him, he was fearful and would snap and try to bite sometimes when certain motions toward him were made. It took several weeks for us to gain his trust and now he is as gentle as he can be. However, he is still wary of some strangers, including some children. His prior owner said that he didn't like car rides, but according to his owner, he had never been anywhere but to the veterinarian's office and now he goes with us everywhere. He is my second Australian rescue and when my elderly English Spaniel passes, I will be adopting an another Aussie playmate for him.

     My husband and I got Major at eight weeks old several years ago. We quickly found out he had already contracted parvo. We spent months caring for and praying he would survive, which he gratefully did. Over the years we have had the greatest gift of love and loyalty from this wonderful creature. Now, due to a number of health issues I have from a brain tumor and numerous surgeries, I can not play with Major and do the things with him he enjoys most. He wouldn't complain, but I love him so much I wanted better for him than I can give. Thanks to the Rescue Me website, Monty and his family found Major's ad. Major bonded with Monty and Pam immediately and I am 100% confident they will give Major the love he has become accustom to getting, as well as, all the activity I am unable to give him.      It broke our heart to have to find a new home for Sadie, but she was just too much of a ball of energy for our two 13 year old dogs, and we didn't want them to spend their final years in fear of their overly playful sister. While we are so sad to see her go, we are thrilled that she found a new home with Melanie and Josh, and their two year old Norwegian Elkhound 'Skye'. When Melanie and Josh move two months ago, that meant Skye had to be separated from her brother Roscoe, and she has been in a deep funk ever since. Now Skye has a new sister to fill her days with, and Sadie has a playmate more suited to her energy and enthusiasm. And Melanie and Josh appear to have more than enough love for the both of them.      It was real painful for me giving my puppy for adoption. Still hurts so much. But thanks to Rescue Me and Jeff Gold, this process was so quickly.      I recently lost the love of my life, Ziggy, who was my first rescue from the Australian Shepherd Rescue Society.      Late last year my sister, who was living with me at the time, decided to move out of state, leaving her puppy behind. Since we had two other dogs and we absolutely loved Denver, the pup she left behind, we made the decision to try to raise him as our own. As time went on and he grew from a rambunctious puppy to a rambunctious dog it became very apparent that our eight to five work schedules were not working for Denver. He began to get bored during the days with no one to play with him and entertained himself with the destruction of carpets, trash, shoes, blankets, etc. Since we are renters, this forced us to kennel him during the time we were gone. After a month or two of watching poor Denver's sad face every morning when putting him in his kennel for the day we made the tough decision to start trying to find him a new home. We didn't need him to be rehomed right away and after hearing all the Craigslist horror stories of puppies going to unfit or abusive homes, we started to search for other options that might give Denver the best chance to find a good forever home. In searching, we were referred by a couple people to this site and only heard good things about it so we decided to give it a try. We posted Denver and within a week were getting tons of responses from people interested in giving him a home. I was able to interview everyone who contacted me in depth which helped to ease my mind a lot during the whole process! After about two or three weeks and a couple of days of asking a potential family a billion questions, we had finally found a couple that we thought would be the perfect match for Denver. They drove quite a distance to meet Denver which to me said a lot about their want and dedication to finding the perfect pup. Once there, we brought Denver out to introduce him to his potential new family and immediately Denver and they fell in love with each other. Denver has been with his new family for two weeks now and we have received about two weeks worth of pictures and videos of Denver playing in his new big backyard, enjoying the dog park, playing with his new toys, and giving his new mom kisses. Letting him go was admittedly very hard for us, but being able to see him in his new surroundings so full of life and happiness and knowing how much he is loved in his new home continues to make the healing process 20x easier! We were so lucky to have found Denver's new family to give him a perfect home and love him for forever and we were even luckier to have found Rescue Me to make it all possible. Thank you Rescue Me from us, Denver, and his new family!

     Due to circumstances beyond my control I was forced to find a new home for my great little two year old Aussie female. I posted her on Rescue Me yesterday afternoon and received a phone call from a very nice lady this morning. She and her husband had just lost their dog and were interested in adopting a new dog. We met this afternoon and they immediately fell in love with my dog and took her home with them. This is a wonderful organization and if I can ever get another dog this is where I will find it.

I took Cora in to give her a loving home, however, with my work schedule and my husband's work schedule, we were unable to provide the love and attention Cora needs. We took her in to help out a friend and he offered her to us. But Cora is so sweet and so loving she deserves to be in a home where she can run and be free live a happy dog life. A couple living on a farm wanted to take her into their home and let her run and be free like she deserves. I'm happy she will be in her forever loving home where she can have her job and be loved.

     Thank you so much Rescue Me! We were madly in love with a stray we found, but due to her strong prey instinct, we were not able to keep her with our cats. I checked with friends and family and was not able to find any leads for her. I knew I was at least her third home and I wanted to be sure she went to a true, forever home. Maddie is now at her new home where she will learn agility skills and work to learn enough skills to be a therapy dog.      Mandy, a three year old Australian Shepard, has a vision problem that will leave her vision impaired, or perhaps totally blind. We didn't feel that our home would continue to be a safe place for her. We live in a remote area with livestock, snakes, cactus, etc. I was thrilled that within 24 hours of posting Mandy, she had a chance at a new home, and it turned out to be just the perfect one for her. Also wonderful was two other responses I got, one with help to find a blind dog rescue, and another with an offer of a home. Thank you Rescue Me! I will occasionally foster working breeds or large dogs or rescue from the shelter, which is a kill shelter in my area. Rescue Me will be my first source in the rehoming process.

     Wow! What a wonderful adoption for our cute little man! His new mom and dad drove six hours one-way to pick him up! They are a very active young couple who enjoy hiking and running, which will be perfect for his personality and intelligence!      I lost my two dogs in less than a year due to cancer. When my Aussie passed a few weeks ago, I started looking for a new dog. First went to the SPCA but didn't find any that suited me. Then I started checking the Australian Shepherd Rescue Me site. Within less than a week, I found Delaney. She came home with me today and is doing just great. Think she was surprised with all the toys that are lying about and is having a fantastic time playing. I also brought my neighbor's Labrador over and the two of them had a great time in the back yard. I highly recommend this site for anyone wanting to adopt an Aussie or Aussie-mix.

     Using the word rescue is a little misleading in this situation, because an unfortunate scenario caused his previous owner to find a new home for Toby. Toby traveled from seven and a half hours with me. WOW, what a traveler. Would stop every couple of hours to let him walk. He was so mellow and loving the entire trip. Since he has been in our home, he has settled in like he has been here forever. Follows me around and constantly shows love. He likes attention and shows respect and consideration for Retread (our other Aussie), and Brooks (our German Shepherd). Last night, our first night with him in our home, we truly experienced a Three Dog Night. All three slept on the foot of our bed. Thank God for king size beds. Retread and Brooks, both have accepted Toby and try to include him in there play. He is still getting use to their activeness, but is joining in well. We feel so comfortable with him in our home and he is a welcome addition.
