I had an AMAZING experience on Rescue Me! We had an overwhelming response and we found a great home for our lovely Paisley. We will miss her, but the process was made better due to the immediate and loving help from the people of Rescue Me! I hope I never need to use it again to rehome a dog, but when we look for another Aussie we will definitely come here!

Last year I found Beauregard 'Beau' - an Australian Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd mix - on Rescue Me! He'd been rescued from the shelter by a family, but he wasn't getting along with their existing dog, so he needed another home. Beau's foster family posted him on Rescue Me!, and they were great about providing very complete and honest information and arranging a meeting. They had trained him well while fostering him, which I'm very grateful for. Beau rapidly became my best friend, running and hiking buddy, and general 'shadow'. And my then boyfriend's (now husband's) dog loves him; they're true 'brothers' - playing, arguing, and missing each other when apart. Beau and I have been inseparable for almost a year now. His 'birthday' is next week, which prompted me to finally write this review. The thing I like best about Rescue Me! is the ability to search by breed. My previous dog, Toby, was an Australian Cattle Dog mix, so I hoped another dog of the same breed would also be compatible with my lifestyle. I also appreciate that the people posting on Rescue Me! are generally able to provide great information about the animals, leading to a more likely successful match. I mean it in the most sincere way when I say thank you, Rescue Me!, for helping me find my best friend! - Jane

Bella was adopted by a very sweet woman named Cathy. I drove out to meet her and introduce them. She knew it was hard to say Goodbye to Bella, so she allowed us to take our time to say our goodbyes. I knew it would be hard, but it was even harder than I thought it would be. I knew she was going to a great home, Cathy is very loving and had some really nice things in her car to keep Bella comfy on the ride home. She has kept in touch with me to advise how well Bella is adjusting. I am so grateful for the Rescue Me! website. I have had numerous calls on Bella and Harley. Thank you so much for having this available to all of us that love our animals, but cannot keep them and want them to be adopted by another loving person.

Dear Jeff - Thank you for this wonderful site! I have wanted another Aussie for years, but could not have one where I lived. I moved, found Rescue Me!, and Peter has brought joy to my life! He is sweet, gentle, protective, and such a good boy. Oh yes, he is silly too! His mom brought him up well, and I am lucky to have him now. I want to make his senior years good and happy years. I live in a complex where many of my neighbors have dogs, and we are a happy bunch. He's adapting nicely, we've bonded quickly, and I am delighted with him. He has filled a big void in my life. Thank you for bringing Aussie lovers and dogs in need together. God bless you!

My husband and I decided our four year old male Aussie, Bizzy, needed a companion. Bizzy is a rescue dog from our local animal shelter. In looking at rescue sites, I came upon Rescue Me! Sassy was first on the listing, she looked so much like Bizzy that after reading about her, we decided to contact her owners. We arranged to meet her on Saturday. I was a little nervous, but upon meeting her we knew we wanted her to be a part of our family. Sassy, on the other hand was not so sure. She came from a caring family, with several four-legged friends. I am sure it was very hard for her to say goodbye, but once we were in the car and on our way home, she settled in. Sassy and Biz get along great. She has a sweet temperament and is very playful. She is just the companion Biz needs. Her family warned us she was fast, and they were not kidding. She zips around our backyard like lightning. What I think is interesting is Bizzy's left eye is blue with a little brown area in the top, where Sassy's brown spot is in the lower left. My husband and I are very happy we were able to find her and adopt her. Rescue Me! is a great program. We all have benefited from it! Thank you, Patrica and Ron

I lost my husband September 17th, 2013. I have a large two story home and a nice back yard and could not stand the thought of being here alone. I was not going to kid myself, I knew the Aussie would need a lot of interaction and stimulation. This breed is a busy breed. The family that we got him from loved him but he was a handful and they have three small boys. They had him since he was a puppy and house trained him. what a Blessing! We went to see him and it was love at first sight. I left for a week after my husband's funeral and the folks held him for me. After I picked him up, we bonded immediately. He doesn't get two feet from me. We took him to the vet for a check-up, current shots and bloodwork to rule out heartworm. He is in great health and we have been inseparable. He loves to ride in my Jeep and has the run of the house. He loves the park that is a block away from our home. I found Rescue Me! while looking up rescue dogs. This is a wonderful site. I have told my friends about the website and have shared it via Facebook. I will look into another adoption in a year or so. Thank you, Rescue Me!

South Los Angeles Animal Shelter had a beautiful male Australian Shepherd mix I saw on Rescue Me! I adopted him last week, and he seems to have adjusted very quickly to sleeping on the sofa or bed. It was heart-wrenching to go to the shelter and see all those dogs there wanting to be loved. Thanks to Rescue Me! and to South L.A. Animal Shelter.

We rescued our foster dog, Bear, from a small, local shelter where he had little chance for survival. Upon meeting Bear, I saw his potential as a great companion or family dog. He was very scared, but friendly and gentle with the kids. We fostered Bear for four months helping him gain his confidence, especially with men, teaching him basic house manners and getting him his updated shots, neutering and general wellness care. When I came across the Rescue Me! website, I was not prepared for the immediate volume of responses. This allowed us to meet and be selective about matching Bear with an appropriate family. Yesterday, after agreeing to a two week trial adoption, Bear has been adopted into a caring, loving and forever home. Thank you, Jeff, and everyone affiliated with Rescue Me! You are providing a wonderful, easy and very responsive service for animals in need. Lynda Smith

We posted Birdie to Rescue Me! shortly after we took her into our care. It wasn't more than a few days until we received an inquiring phone call. After a few phone conversations, it became clear that we should allow the inquiring couple to meet Birdie in person. They drove to us yesterday and we had a wonderful meeting; Birdie took to them quite well, and they fell in love with Birdie. It was clear that they would be an excellent family together. We're so glad that we posted Birdie on Rescue Me! I'm not sure if we ever could've found such a perfect family for her otherwise!

We got Buster at eight weeks old. Six years have gone by and we had to make the hardest decision we have ever had to do. Over the past couple of years Buster has had allergies which caused a lot of scratching, chewing, and hair loss. Vet bills were getting too much, and we couldn't afford it any more. So we decided to put him up for adoption. Rescue Me! was the only place I went, and in about a week Buster was in a new home. Thanks to you, Buster has found some wonderful people to take care if him. Thank you so much!

We lost our Aussie about four weeks ago, and lost our shepherd-husky mix six weeks before that. Both were great pups and lived over thirteen years. Our house seemed quite empty along with our hearts. We decided to look for another Aussie... I looked online for Aussie rescues, at local pounds, and other rescues, then I found Rescue Me! This web site was so easy to use. I clicked on a picture of Australian Shepherds and it gave a U.S. map with all available Aussies. We located Max in Indiana, his owner due to health decided to adopt him out. I know it broke her heart to do this. She was looking for a good loving home for him, and we were looking for a good dog to love. We made the arrangements and drove 320 miles to Indianapolis and brought him home on Labor Day. He is a wonderful dog and adjusting well. I want to thank Jeff Gold and Rescue Me! for helping us find such a wonderful dog. Thank you!

TB is a loveable and friendly Australian Shepherd. He was adopted today by his new parents, two very caring and knowledgeable people. I know he has gone to a loving environment. Even though it was a sad occasion for us, we take comfort in knowing he will be well taken care of and happy in his new home. He was listed for only about two weeks. I am very happy with Rescue Me! and with the success we had placing TB.

Sachmo found a wonderful home in West Virginia! His new owner is a man with a heart of gold! He is very patient with Sachmo and their favorite places are running in the large backyard and PetSmart. Sachmo's new owner contacted me the day after I had put Sachmo on the Rescue Me! site and he picked up Sachmo the following weekend. Sachmo's new owner keeps in contact with me to give me updates on how Sachmo is doing. It was sad for me to give up Sachmo, I miss him every day... but with the wonderful reports I am getting, how can I deny Sachmo the new exciting life that he has now. Thank you, Rescue Me! Your site was a God Send. With your help I was able to find a forever home for my Sachmo. With tears in my eyes, I hate to say this, but I think Sachmo is better off with his new owner. Thank you again!

With a heavy heart we posted our beloved Mya on Rescue Me! I received a lot of interest in her. I met with some wonderful people, however, she had to be placed with the perfect person or family. I believe in my heart we found her perfect person. We are calling him the Dog Whisper. He knows his Aussies. Mya took to him and his furry buddy that also shares his home. He has promised my seven year old visits, pictures and emails to keep us posted on her and how she's doing. He lives near an agility training center and is planning to take her to see if this is something she would like. I can sleep tonight knowing through your site I found a good match. I know she is safe and will not be harmed in his care. Also, thank you for the helpful tips on what to ask while interviewing people who were interested. Respectfully, Kim

When I could no longer house my puppy, Dexter, where I am currently living I posted him here to the Rescue Me! site and within a week or so I had someone calling to inquire about him. And today he found his new home with a young girl and a new playmate, Lily, another Aussie. I am so satisfied and grateful to this site for allowing me to find a quick and amazing new home for my sweet Dexter, because if not for Rescue Me's help Dexter may have had to go to the shelter near my home to be adopted, and that was the LAST thing I wanted! Thank you Rescue Me! and thank you to the family that took Dexter home! This site is definitely one that I will recommend to anyone needing to find a home for their animal or for anyone looking to adopt a new loving companion!

Jet was a needy pup who endured a strange and unsettling first year of his life. His previous owners never got him vaccinated, were animal hoarders, and he barely got to eat. When I first rescued him I noticed how affectionate and sweet he actually was. He just wanted love and attention all the time. I was worried that since he didn't like to play or play with toys at all I may not find him a home right away. Then I met a lovely couple who were retired and had all the time in the world to give Jet all the love he craved. They were also experienced with timid, neglected dogs and knew just how to handle him. I'm very happy he found his new home and got exactly what he needed!

Both George and Dixon were placed in new homes yesterday. Initially I did not want to separate them as they had always been together, but I believe the Lord had other plans. Two people called me and both chose which dog they wanted after I explained their personalities. Dixon is very quiet, submissive, gentle and loveable. George is very outgoing, high energy and loveable as well. Now, Dixon is placed as an inside dog with a family filled with children and laughter. Lots of hugs, kisses and rolling on the floor together, which he loves. George went to a family with 10 acres and teen age boys to run and explore the woods with. God is good! I feel very blessed and appreciate rescue me for helping me place these adorable dogs.

A family looking for a Rescue dog saw Plato on Rescue Me, contacted me and now he is living with them in New Orleans. They were looking for a rescue dog and picked him. They had an Australian Shepherd in the past and knew what a great companion Plato would be. We live in Houston; so both families drove hours, met at the Texas Welcome Center on Interstate 10 and thanks to you, Plato has a new home and a loving family.

I'm happy to say Coco was adopted by a wonderful family and She is local for us to stop by and see. Because of her being very timid with people I was shocked that she went to the lady on the second visit. Which made me feel good Coco felt safe with her. Hope she is loved the way I loved her but I couldn't provide the room for her to run like she needed. With this site I had lots of inquiries for her. But she did find her happy home.

Pretzel Twist has been our dog since we picked him up from the breeder. For 6 years we have been able to channel his energy and enthusiasm for good, but lately we downsized from two acres, 3400 sq. ft. house and a pool to an RV. At the same time, we went from all four of us being home all day to my husband and I starting a business and taking our home-schooled children with us every day, all day. Pretzel was not happy or exercised. Because of Rescue Me!, we found him a home in a short time. He now has fenced-in acres with goats to herd, a couple of teenagers to train him, and other family members that are home all day. Rescue Me! connected me with many interested people who had owned Aussies and knew the breed tendencies. We were able to easily exchange information and do a trial two-weeks to see if Pretzel was a good fit with their family. We just talked and they are excited about making him the family's Christmas present! Thank you, Rescue Me!

Within 24 hours of posting Shadows' story, he drove away with his new owners and his new sibling, another rescue dog. We all spent an hour together so they could see if the dogs would get along okay first; when they did, Shadows actually jumped into their vehicle, anxious to spend more time with them. It was great, and he's going to an excellent home. Thank you so much!

Thank you rescueme.org! Your website found Jet a wonderful new home! Jet was listed with Rescue Me for a few months & we received numerous inquiries for him. With patience, I knew we would find him a perfect owner... And we did! He is now in a new 'pack' with other dogs, a larger yard, an owner without small children and loves to agility train! Jet must feel like he hit the lottery with his new family! THANK YOU for making his adoption possible!

I am involved in English Springer Spaniel Rescue but sometimes I go to the shelter and another breed takes my heart. This was the case with Boomerang..We called him Boom. This has happened to me several times and I always use Rescue Me to place those heart felt dogs. Boomer found the perfect home. We did a home check and Vet check on his new Mom and everything was perfect. She had owned several Aussies before and just love our sweetheart of a guy. She had lost her Aussie last fall and she was ready and Boom was ready...it was a sweet match. Boomer was super smart and learned basic rally obedience in a week...really quit amazing. So Mr. Boomerang ...have a wonderful life and I will visit you every now and then.

I posted Pi's story and by the next morning I had received an email from a woman who was interested in her. We exchanged some emails and agreed that she would foster her for a weekend to see if she was a fit. Long story short, Pi has a permanent loving home with a lovely woman who appreciates her stellar watchdog qualities. Pi is the happiest and friendliest dog and I wanted only the very best home for her. My daughters and I just went to visit her (about six weeks after she was adopted), and she is doing great. I cannot imagine a better home for her. She has bones to chew on, a healthy diet, a canine companion and lots of exercise. She was still a puppy, and has grown quite a bit and has a beautiful coat. Thank you Rescue Me! I would not have found this wonderful home for Pi without you.

I had several replies to my submission but we ended up keeping her ourselves. She got sick a few days after I posted her picture and we spent quite a bit of money getting her healthy. In the meantime, one of our other dogs, an 11+year old Great Pyrenees, got sick and died. So we had another place in our pack, and decided to keep her. She is doing well and is now in puppy boot camp, learning her manners. Very sweet dog.

My husband and I are moving in less than a week to Hawaii as a military family and the cost to take Bear with us was too much. I found this site just by doing a google search and immediately posted an ad. Last week while in San Antonio to pick up my hubby from training, I received a phone call from Alissa Karnes about her interest in adopting Bear. I called her and we spoke for over an hour and learned that she had also had a herding type dog for over 13 years that passed away a year ago, and that her family was ready for a new family member. She came by this afternoon to pick up Bear and immediately Bear bonded with her and followed her around. My husband and I knew right there that we found our perfect match and Bear was adopted. I cried watching my boy leave but I have no doubt that he will be well taken care of and we are now facebook friends with his new family and so we will be able to check in on him whenever we want. Your website saved my boy and connected him with a great family and a new home. THANK YOU!!!!!

I was under the clock to find a home for Bo. My friend Karen heads down to the high kill shelter on a weekly basis in the south to retrieve adoptable dogs. Bo's home fell through once up in the northeast so if he didn't find another home fast, he was going back down to face euthanasia for sure that following Sunday! His picture wasn't up a few hours on the website before I got a call from a family who turned out to be a perfect match and saved his life! He was in his new home less than 24 hours after I posted him. Thank you so much for saving Bo.

My neighbor who assists locals in dog adoption, told me about Rescue Me! I had two Aussies that I had owned since they were puppies. I have a horse farm and as the puppies grew to maturity, one brother constantly tried to herd the horses. I know, that is their natural instinct. The horse that Patch loved to herd the most had suffered a leg injury and I was nursing her back to health. I was faced with a very tough decision. At 3 1/2 years old I had to separate the brothers if Patch had a new home. I posted to Rescue Me!, and within a week received an e-mail. We e-mailed for about a month and after sending pictures of his home, yard and getting to know him by e-mail he came to visit Patch. It was love at first sight and it was obvious from the worn leash he pull from his car and the way he sat on the ground and loved on my dog that he was a real animal lover! His family had owned an Aussie before and loved the breed. His plan was for Patch to live in the house and have access to the yard. He worked out of his home so he could be with the dog most of the time. He was single with no real commitment. He loved to bike and run and had miles of trails near his home. I have a great picture of Patch lying on his back asleep on his couch at his new home. He has a big grin on his face like 'look at me now Mom'. I had to send the picture to my parents who got a big smile on their face and promptly framed it! The new owner and I stay in touch! The good news is that the other brother did fine through the transition. He doesn't chase the horses and is my shadow! They really are great dogs. I hope you, too, find your next best friend through this website. Thanks so much... Rescue Me!!

It was her welfare that mattered most. Thanks, Mike

Rescue Me! helped me find Maggie a good home. I was a little unsure I would be able to because there are other Aussies on the list in my state that seem to be just as deserving as her and also she seemed to be older than those. I found someone that really wanted a companion that she could take everywhere and Maggie is just right for her. She is doing great and I could not have asked for a better situation in a difficult time.

Our Australian Shepherd puppy, Natasha, found an amazing home within 2 days. We live in New Mexico and a very loving family drove 7 hours from Colorado to pick her up. They were the first to respond to the ad and had fallen head over heals for her. Rescue Me is spectacular and I've already recommended it to friends. It focuses on the important factors to adopting that allows for a successful adoption. I haven't found another site like it and am so happy that Natasha is with her forever family. Thank you.

Max has been adopted. After being placed on your site I had many people interested in him. He was a pup when my neighbors got him when he came into their yard. They already had a female border collie and Max adopted her as his mom. The family just lost their home to foreclosure and needed new homes for their dogs immediately. The border collie went to a foster family in Texas through the border collie rescue organization and that left Max alone and missing his 'mom.' A family contacted me about him and he got taken last night. They live right down the street from me and said if they had known they would have taken both dogs and let them stay together. I got an email later last night from them and he is doing great. His new family is even going to let the 14 year old girl go and visit with him! This was such a blessing to get him a good home with your help. Thank you so much

Hi Jeff, Abby has found a new home in the country with 5 kids ranging in ages 18 months to 8... 2 of the kids are special needs kids too so I felt it would be a good fit for Abby. Using the site made it easier to find her a home and gave me the forum to make sure people understood she needed a good loving home, she was not put on this earth to be mistreated and neglected or used for fighting. I preferred using your site over craigslist, craigslist people seem to think that pets are disposable, they don't form a bond to them or seem to care if they find the right home, they just want money, I have even heard of people taking animals with low fee's or no fees and getting them only to turn around and Sell them...It was hard for us to let Abby go, but we felt it was going to be in her best interest, and we did not let her go with the first person who showed interest, I actually had a person respond who was very rude, and hateful and wanted to keep Abby confined to an apartment, mini aussies are full of energy and need space to run and play not be locked up.... Thanks for having a site that makes a pet more than just a pet, Abby is a family member..... Brenda

In my experience trying to adopt an Aussie, I don't exactly qualify as an optimal candidate for getting a dog. I'm not a huge fan of Vets or vaccines. I firmly believe in the power of plant medicine and self directed care, so pretty much none of the other sites would work with me. One wouldn't even acknowledge my requests. Your site allowed me to directly contact the owner so that I could form my own relationship with them. I was able to explain my situation and my belief structure which the adoption agencies were unwilling to hear. They expect (practically demand) a white middle class lifestyle, picket fences, healthcare, steady job; I have none of those. What I do have (or rather had) was an Aussie shaped hole in my heart. It's not easy being a small farmer, there is no money in it . Your site allowed me to cut out the middleman. Thank you for this. Jack will be very happy here with us. He's only been here a few hours and he's already found the nastiest puddles of rotting leaves and covered the couch in sewer stink. While he's still confused about why he's here and not at home, time will change that. Again , thank you for what you do. Charles Schiavone
