Rescue Me ID: 17-11-23-00177Mandy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

MANDY is a sad story...of neglect. She came to us 4 mos ago with mange from head to toe (or tail) and all the side effects of skin lesions, infected eyes, and, of course, malnutrition. She almost couldn't walk she was so emaciated. We believe her to be an Australian Shepherd. She is about 1 yr old and is totally vaccinated. We will send up a year's supply of Advantage Multi which will continue to kill any mange and also be the heart worm prevention...especially she tested Heart Worm Negative. (Note: mange only takes over when the dog's immune system goes low...usually from malnutrition. The return of the mange would only happen if she ... (Read More)weren't fed well. Therefore, a good, nutritional diet is the best thing for her. Mandy is so excited about life and so playful, other dogs just sit back and watch her go. She loves other dogs but because of her high energy, some can be intimidated. She will be great for playing ball and having a great time with kids or going on those long hikes or walks. She has had no training but she is VERY smart. She does think cats are to chase, tho. She would do best in a home without cats. If you have one, she would have to be trained to leave the cat alone and you would have to know how to train her to do that. Adoption fee: $395. This includes all medical, microchipping, health certificate, and transportation from Texas to the NWP. Therefore, a good, nutritional diet is the best thing for her. Please copy and paste the link below to our simple online application. It works great but if you don't hear from us within 24 hours email us because on rare occasions it might not work and we generally get back to folks promptly. Any questions, please put that in the application. If you would like to see any more photos just ask that in your application. Please note, we must have a completed (all questions answered) application . Thank you so much. We will get back with you shortly. ; She could arrive on our next transport on December 9. It would be optimal if Mandy is pre adopted so our transporter delivers directly to Her adopter. We have very few fosters in the NW. If she is not pre adopted to arrive on the 9th of December, we don't know for sure we have a foster so she can come up. If you pre adopt you have a week trial period, so the most you would do is foster, we rehome and your adoption fee is refunded. You would just be helping to save her life and get her to the NW so she can find her loving forever home. Thank you (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

We are looking for a forever home for our vibrant intelligent handsome sweet determined curious fun-loving purebred (not registered) Australian Shepard, Pilgrim. He is five years old, birthday in April, a Red Merle, and is healthy at 55 pounds. He was born in Texas and has beautiful marbled eyes. Pilgrim's favorite hobbies are long walks, frisbee, ball, movie watching (if animals are in the film) and cuddles. Especially morning cuddling. He's very generous and loving, would never bite anyone or even another dog, has a sense of humor, and is a true friend. Doesn't have much experience with kids, but is very sweet. He loves dog parks and ... (Read More)making new dog friends. Loves roaming on and off leash and exploring the wilderness. Pilgrim is potty trained, likes to do his business out of the way. Can shake, sit, lay. He is very intelligent and craves learning new skills. Very trainable. Pilgrim is very vocal, will have complex conversations with you. What he needs to have a good life: a place to roam, attention, and jobs to do. He is a work dog, although not trained professionally, he would be happiest to live on a farm or have access to a backyard. Would love to feel like he can contribute to a family or a farm. If you are interested in meeting Pilgrim please contact us. We will come out to your place, meet you, ask you a few questions. Looking forward to hearing from you and finding Pilgrim a happy home to thrive in! (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Koko came to me as a foster. She had just had 7 pups and the shelter she was in was going to euthanize her and pups. I have had her since her pups were 5 days old, so about 4 months. Pups are all gone and now Koko needs her forever home. She is a wonderful dog. The best foster mamma I have ever had. She wants to be a only dog because she has so much love and addiction for her people she doesn't want to share with other dogs. She is gentle, sweet, very smart and learns quickly. She is house trained and crate trained. She is a one I. A million dog.

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-01-00266Misha (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet your new best friend Misha! She is a beautiful and friendly Mini Aussie/Pit bull mix. Let's get the 'bad' out of the way - Misha loves chickens in a bad way. She cannot be safely kept around poultry animals, which is why we are rehoming her. She also is a bit too aggressively playful with our cat - though we have not had problems yet, it would be better if she was in a cat free home. But the good outweighs the bad of a non-free range chicken home! She is extremely affectionate, responds well to commands, and adores small children. She has never bit or intentionally scratched a human, and based on her fondness for toddlers, it is ... (Read More)unlikely she would ever do so. Misha would do well in a one or multiple dog family. She needs work on food discipline in both defensiveness and hastiness in eating. She is current on vaccinations, but not yet spayed. We can spay her upon request. (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Let me introduce you to Angel. Angel is an 11 year old Blk tri Australian Shepherd. She is spayed, UTD on shots, MC'ed and house trained. Angel was owner surrendered to Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF). Her owner had to move into assisted living and could not take her. Angel is pretty laid back, although she can get excited when she wants to be. Angel gets along with the foster's four Aussies as long as she's reminded to behave. The foster believes this is due to Angel being the only dog in her former house. Although the foster has a cat, it is recommended Angel be in a household without a cat as she can be unpredictable. You may never ... (Read More)find Angel on the cover or articles written about her in an agility and herding magazine, but she's the type of dog you do read about in books about being a loyal companion. You just may find Angel is one of the best gifts you may ever have. Angel will follow you everywhere. When you sit down she will curled up next to you. You may find Angel sleeping on a dog bed next to you and wake up with her alongside you. If you get up in the middle of the night, there's Angel following you. Wanting to go for a walk, you got it..........Angel. Angel is starting to show signs of wanting to play with other dogs and humans alike, she just takes a little TLC. The same TLC will be reflected back to you by Angel. If you believe Angel is right for you, please contact Australian Shepherds Furever (AFS) reference Angel pet ID:1441. If you think you might be the perfect family for Angel please fill out an application at Her adoption fee is $195 and all proceeds from her adoption go towards future rescues (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
