Rescue Me ID: 16-12-10-00027Kevin (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Meet Kevin... an adorable, 4ish mo old, 20lb aussie / shepherd mix boy. He is pictured with his best bud, Billy, a 3 mo old, 14lb yellow lab / heeler mix. Kevin is a very sweet, social puppy that would love to have a playmate in the home. He's wonderful with all animals and he loves people. He's a gentle natured boy that will thrive with lots of training games and outside activities. He will also make a wonderful addition to a home with kids over 6yrs old. He should be about 60lbs or so when full grown so needs a fenced backyard. Because of his young age, he should not be left alone for more than 4-5hr intervals. The 450. adoption ... Rescue Me ID: 16-12-08-00530NEED EMERGENCY FOSTER (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

PLEASE HELP!! Jeff is in desperate need for an immediate foster home. Of course, he's available for adoption, too. Jeff is a 7yr old (he thinks he's 2), 50ish lb boy that is very typical of his breed. If he had his way about it, he would herd bikes and motorcycles, and he would herd strangers off his property. He's gunshy with men in hats (unless he knows you), and he will protect his person when out on a walk at night if a stranger gets too close. If his person takes him off property to meet others, he's a gentleman. He knows plenty of commands and he's very polite with his house manners. The best environment for Jeff is a farm or large ... (Read More)piece of property on which he can run and play, without the stress of going for long walks in busy areas. He gets along great with small dogs but no large dogs. He has not been tested with cats so for safety sake, no cats for this gorgeous boy... unless they are dog savvy barn cats. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-02-00287Echo Honey (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Echo loves her people but is afraid of strangers. She is a two year old pure breed mini Australian Shepherd. She is very trainable and eager to please but with our 5 year old daughters heart condition we do not have the time for her that she requires and deserves. Echo would be best suited for older children because she is somewhat selfish with her stuff and food. Our older children can touch them but she prefers not to share with our 5 year old. She had her latest shots last month and is microchipped. She knows her basic commands: sit, stay, heal, up, go to bed, and lay down. She is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. She ... (Read More)loves to chew on things when she is bored and sadly, this includes chickens. She has never hurt a cat but they don't like her and she would chase them if allowed. She would love to have an active family that would be able to spend time playing with her. She loves, loves water and gets very excited when you bring out a hose or a sprinkler. (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Alli. She is a very sweet girl that loves to be with her people. She is a typical Aussie that needs lots of room to run and someone that understands what the breed needs. She is a bit nervous around other dogs due to a neighbor dog that liked to fence fight. We think with some work she could overcome this fear. She is an owner surrender from a family that loves her and wants to get her into the right home. She has had some training, great in the house and not destructive. A fenced yard will be required. No Condos or Apartments please. No cats as she may like to chase them. And no very young children due to the herding instinct. If you ... (Read More)are interested please email an application form. They have never spent a day apart so looking for a home that will take both. At the moment these boys are penned up and really need room to run. A farm would be ideal or a large fenced (secure) yard as they require a good amount of exercise. They have not spent a huge amount of time with kids but the times they have, they did great! Super friendly and smart. They have never been around livestock or chickens, so I'm not sure how they would do. These dogs are being transported to the PNW from Texas and there will ... The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
