She can sit, lay down, takes treats politely, heels/ walks good on a leash. We are working on touch (touch her nose to my hand) and roll over. She is a smart girl, quick learner, obedient, attentive and eager to please. She is good with big dogs, and has done really well with our male pit mix. You can pet her when she is eating or take her bone without her becoming possessive. She has a natural gift for Frisbee, we used two Frisbees at a time (she is still learning drop it). She is good with older kids who are supervised by a knowledgeable adult; she did well with my 9 year old and his 10 year old buddy. She also did well with my 91 year old ... (Read More)grandmother who uses a cane; she was respectful and careful around her. She is a great dog and has a good energy level; she is calm when around the house yet is up for a good game of Frisbee, fetch, walk or jog. She is a great running partner, I took both dogs with a leash coupler, and she is learning to run behind me. She doesn't pull and is polite with me and our other dog on runs/ walks. She is wonderful dog who would make an excellent pet for a non-cat household. She has a strong prey drive towards cats. We were working with our indoor cat with her and she was making a lot of progress, learning to ignore the cat and respect the cat. However, she saw our neighbors outside cat through the gate of our carport, hopped the gate (which was 4 feet) and chased it. We were not sure if she meant to harm the cat or not. She dropped it immediately when we said no drop it, and we rushed the cat the vet, the cat passed away probably about 10 minutes after we arrived at the vet's office. Since we have a cat we cannot in good conscience keep her with us putting another cat at risk, otherwise she is our dream dog, everything we had been looking for. For this reason we would say that she needs to be in a no cat house hold and have a 6 foot fence in all parts, she can jump high, which is great for dog sports but means she need to be secure. Her history is unknown to us beyond that she was a stray in Montesano was taken to joint animal services in Lacey, Wa. She appears to have had puppies. They estimated her age to be between 3 to 6 years old. She passed an in house temperament test before being placed for adoption. (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
