Rescue Me ID: 16-07-28-00659Leah (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Health: Vaccinations Current

Leah Lou Ann is a lovely little Kelpie who found herself in our local pound. Kelpies are working dogs and have a tendency to herd other animals and small kids. Leah Lou Ann is looking for a home without children. She lives in a foster home with other dogs but can be selective. We recommend a meet and greet to check compatibility. Leigh has all the smarts of the herding dog breed, and would be most successful with an active owner that will continue to work on her obedience. A $175.00 adoption donation helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases, microchipped and ... (Read More)vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. For more information or apply to adopt at www.augustadogadoptions.org. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-15-00475Louise (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What can we say about Louise that isn't wonderful? First of all - isn't she beautiful with her mottled coat and striking markings? Secondly - will you look at that face?! So cute. And thirdly - don't you want to have a living, breathing piece of American history right at your feet? Because Louise will stay right there. Catahoula Leopard dogs are versatile dogs, which is why they are the state dog of Louisiana. Not only hunting dogs, they are also used for herding and guarding. Louise is a beautiful and athletic representation of the breed. She is a medium high energy girl with a lot of love to give and a super personality. Louise is a ... (Read More)classic example with her intelligence and inquisitiveness as well - she loves a good challenge and is up for most anything. Louise and her sister, Thelma, came to SOHO after being picked up as strays in Cumberland, Virginia. They stayed for a few weeks at the shelter until it became full and they were at risk for euthanasia, so SOHO was contacted and stepped up for these two girls. Louise loves playing with other dogs and and her favorite toy is a good chew bone. She also loves people, often climbing right in their laps for attention! Her stunning markings make her stand out in any pack, and she will give you plenty of kisses. Her coat is short and easy to groom, and has a gorgeous and rare slate merle pattern. She does settle nicely in the house and would excel at being both a companion dog and a sport dog. She is very intelligent and often picks up training very quickly. She gets along with older children as she is gentle, but may be too much energy for wee ones. She does chase cats, but has shown no interest in horses. She is house broke and crate trained. She stands to have her feet wiped and enjoys going for car rides. Louise is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and ready for her forever home! Won't you come meet Louise today? If you are interested in Thelma, please fill out an application at https://www.petstablished.com/pets/public/63344 . Your current pets must be on HW preventative and up to date on all Vet recommended vaccines. She is being fostered in Elkton, VA. 22827 (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Thelma is a beautiful blue merle Catahoula dog mix. She is one of two very gorgeous and athletic girls that came to us from Cumberland County, VA, after being picked up as strays. And now, lucky you, Thelma is looking for her forever home! This girl is very special to us - not only is she a fairly true representation of the Louisiana State Dog, the Catahoula Leopard Dog, but she was also in a high-risk situation before SOHO pulled her to safety. She is a very inquisitive and intelligent girl, ready for a new challenge almost daily. Thelma is very food motivated and fairly easy to train, she walks good on a leash and knows sit. She ... (Read More)absolutely adores people and will happily relax in your lap or beside you (while giving you lots of kisses of course!) - wherever she can reach! She is also very athletic and would excel at dog sports, but she settles wonderfully as well. Thelma has a short, very easy to groom coat that stays clean and polished even in the most adverse conditions, with striking blue leopard markings that are classic of the breed. She is excellent with other dogs and loves to play fetch with them! She ignores horses but will chase cats if they run. She and her sister do get along with children as well, but may be better suited for a home with older children that can help her learn obedience skills. She has asked us to look for a family that is athletic and loves dogs, because she would really like to have a home of her very own! Foster care is great and all but she really wants her very own forever home. Are you Thelma's forever family? If you are - submit an application at the link below! She is up to date on HW, vaccines and Flea/Tick preventative. She is house broke and crate trained, she will stand to have her feet wiped and she loves to go for rides in the car. She is spayed and ready to find her new active home. If you are interested in Thelma, please fill out an application at: https://www.petstablished.com/pets/public/63343. Your pets must be up to date on heart worm and current on vaccines to adoption. (Less)
