Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Knox is the runt of the litter but in the last couple of weeks since he was weaned he's making up for lost time. The boy likes to eat! He loves to play with his sister and he pretty much follows her everywhere. Knox was the last one to figure out the dog door but once he did, he uses it regularly to take all the toys he can find out to the yard and leave them wherever he wants. Foster mom has to go looking for toys and bring them back into the house. We're still working on potty training, but have no doubt that he will figure it out quickly when he finds his forever home. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pax is definitely the leader of the pack. He's the first one to the food bowl and likes to have it all to himself. He figured out the dog door in no time flat and has been known to be an escape artist. He likes to play tug of war with his brothers and sisters and uses his weight to his advantage. He has a beautiful black shiny coat with just a touch of white on one paw and his chest. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Maddox is a shy boy but he loves to be cuddled. He likes to go off by himself and chew on a toy or two or take a little siesta curled up in the corner. Maddox likes to eat but he gets scared when his alpha brother tries to dominate him at the food bowl. He will wait quietly until everyone else finishes and then he will eat by himself. He hasn't really caught on to the fact that he should go potty outdoors, but his foster Mom thinks that he will learn quickly if his new fur-ever family gives him some individual attention. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shiloh is the only little girl in the litter but she more than holds her own with her brothers. She's the one with the most curiosity and the one that is the most playful with her foster sister. When she wants attention, Shiloh lets out an unbelievable high-pitched howl, which usually sets off her brothers. She is kind of getting the hang of the 'going outside to potty' thing, but she's still very young and needs some more practice. She loves to be cuddled and will happily follow her human around from place to place. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-01-00113Mags (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, friends, I'm Mags. Things started rough for me, but I'm feeling great now. My four sisters and I were all rescued after spending over three weeks at the shelter. We came out with bad coughs, some skin issues, and difficulties walking properly due to not getting enough exercise. Now my fur has grown back, my cough has cleared up, and I'm running around like an Olympic sprinter. I love playing with other dogs and laying in the sun. After playing I get so tired I crash and take long naps. I sleep with my sister quietly in a kennel at night. I am very close to potty trained. With the right schedule and/or a doggy door I am accident free. ... (Read More)When I go outside I take care of business quite quickly. I would love to find my furever home. Is that with you?     I am Tiberius and I am the captain of my own destiny. I have good looks and a commanding personality.     Rosco is a very smart, loving and affectionate pure bred black tri-colored Miniature Australian Shepherd who is almost 18 inches in height and weighs 29lbs! He enjoys belly rubs, snuggling up in an open lap, hugs and giving kisses. Rosco's gets along great with all people (men, woman & children) but really seems to be drawn to men. His foster mom says 'He follows me all day and loves when my husband gives him TLC in the evening.' Rosco does enjoy snuggling with both his foster mom and dad but really likes it when his foster dad is home to give him his attention. Rosco appears to have been very well taken care of before coming into rescue. ... (Read More)He is also house trained and will give a soft quiet bark to communicate needing outside to potty, knows how to sit and will sit for his food & treats, listens extremely well, comes when called, rides good in the car and is learning to use the doggy door. He gets along great with the two other dogs in his foster home. They all run around the yard together playing and even eat from each others food bowls without any issues. The photographer who took his recent adoption pictures stated 'Rosco was such a good boy, easy to work with & very well behaved during his photo shoot.' Rosco is being fostered in Carrollton, TX (DFW area). He along with his Mini Aussie brother Chanucy were recently rescued from a Dallas area shelter. Although we would like for Rosco to be adopted into a home with his brother Chauncy we will consider adopting them into separate homes as they have done very well apart from one another while in foster care. All of our Mini Aussies are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-wormed, heart worm tested, on heart worm & flea/tick preventatives as well as treated for any illness or injuries as needed. The adoption fee for Rosco is $275.00 and if adopted with his brother Chauncy the adoption fee for both dogs combined is $350. Adoption fee's help cover veterinarian expenses in regards to spay/neuter surgery, rabies, vaccinations, microchip, exams, heart worm testing, heart worm preventative, flea and tick preventative and treatment for injuries or illnesses as well as any other care related expenses as needed. Each dog comes with its own matching collar, leash, harness (if available) and TMAR identification tag. Because veterinarian services and care are expensive adoption fees are used towards helping TMAR continue to rescue more Mini Aussies in need. If you are interested in meeting Rosco please first review our adoption process & requirements at http://www.texasminiaussierescue.org/adoption-process.html?m followed by completing the adoption application located on our websites 'Forms' Page at http://www.texasminiaussierescue.org/forms.html?m. We usually leave her out during the day and at night in the kitchen which is gated. We have had a few dog sitters and they all say she is a great dog. She really is. With our lives changing so quickly we are just never home. We have been traveling a lot so it means she has to go to the kennel. And she HATES that. She does good there but is always so sad when we pick her up. We have come to terms with that fact that she deserves better. If you or someone you know is looking for the perfect dog, please send them this information. A re-homing fee of $300 is required. We would like to introduce potential owners to Missy to make sure before we let her go. She has been apart of our family for the past 4 years so this will be a difficult transition for both Missy and us. I do have additional photos of Missy that are current. This one is the best to show her color and face. (Less)

She is a 2 year old female Jack Russell Terrier mix(most likely with some Australian Shepherd), She has been fully vaccinated, microchipped, health tested, and spayed. She doesn't like black dogs, and has some barking issues with any other dog. She would do best as an only dog, and is good with people. She is very energetic, and needs lots of love and attention. She is great with kids, and would keep them busy playing for hours! Macey came to us after she was dumped in the country with less than a week to go before delivering 3 male puppies. They have all been adopted into new loving homes, and now it's mom's turn!

We have two 9 month old pups and we need to re-home one of them. They are brother and sister and due to our small yard, they are not getting along. We have had them since they were little babies. They are both good with other dogs, just not each other. They are both potty trained, crate trained, chipped, on heartworm meds, spayed/neutered and up-to-date on their shots. They are both kid and cat friendly. I have posted her brother Sailor on another posting.

Red was found on the side of the interstate covered in blood and with severe mange. Her rescuer saved her, got her completely well, and fell in love with her. Unfortunately, the city she lives in gave her a citation for having too many dogs and she was forced to give Red up. DFW Pup Patrol agreed to take Red in and find her a furever home. Red is about 2 years old and weighs 60 lbs. She gets along just fine with cats and dogs alike, but can be a bit timid when first meeting new people. We would love for Red to go to a home with another pup. She is an absolute gorgeous girl who would make a great addition to almost any family. If you are ...     Loki: a gorgeous American Eskimo/Australian Shepherd mix male neutered dog, approximately 2.5 years old. (Will turn 3 the end of December). His brilliant blue eyes will mesmerize you! The true breeding of this dog is unknown, but this is our best guess based on his physical traits and mannerisms. He looks a bit like a lethal white mix of Aussies, as evidenced by his albino-look on one side of his head. However, he has been tested by a few different vets, and his hearing and eyesight seem to be just fine. This boy LOVES to play in the water stream from the hose or sprinkler! Watch out if you're trying to water your yard or plants! ... (Read More)And playing ball is one of his favorite pastimes. He is quite talented at finding his favorite toy or ball in a game of search and retrieve: we hide his toy in thick undergrowth of wild bushes, small trees and plants when he is not around, and then tell him to find the ball. Within minutes he comes out of the bushes with ball in tow, hungry for more games and fetching. He understands basic commands, but will always need to practice to stay refreshed with what he is supposed to be doing or not doing. He is highly independent, as is common with many working dog breeds. Loki is a very active dog which requires a very active and patient owner, as boredom leads to mischievousness. He would do best in a home with no children or cats. He does well with other dogs, but plays pretty rough, again, a very common trait for breeds of his energy. Loki tends to be a resource guarder, which means he will grab and hold onto any item in his reach if he feels like he is lacking attention. He can be easily agitated by a person or animal that is overly excited, anxious or any other strong emotion. Having said that, Loki can and will be a wonderful dog for an experienced handler, calm and assertive, in want of a companion animal that needs lots of exercise, focused attention, controlled and consistent discipline and plenty of love.     Well is anyone looking for a project? My Foster Mom calls me a project. She says I'm super sweet, smart and handsome too. The project part comes in cause I'm shy, and I take awhile to warm up to people. I would appreciate a nice friendly dog to make me feel more comfortable. Oh, and I really like cats. I give them kisses here all the time. I also live with bigger kids that know that I am shy, so they take their time with me. They give me tummy rubs all the time, my favorite. I am crate trained and pretty much potty trained, 8 months old black mouth cur blend. I like to walk on a leash with the other dogs and love stuffy toys. You ... But I can run and play just like the big dogs, as my legs healed all by themselves. I'm not perfect, but who is right? I may be a project, but the reward will be fine in the end!! Rescue Me ID: 15-06-14-00621Winston (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Winston: 2.5 yr; Sex: Male; Activity Level: Companion/Active Companion; B/W Smooth Short Haired Coat; Border Collie/Aussie; Weight 30 lbs. Winston was a lost soul loose in Alief Houston just darting between a few streets wondering what happened to him and where did his people go. It took a team of kind Samaritans one month to earn his trust and follow them into a large fenced area so he could be rescued! Yes trust for Winston is HUGE, he does best in an apartment or condo, he prefers this living to a large house and yard. This young boy has a story that has left behind scaring on his hind legs most likely from a stake in the ground and ... (Read More)rope as he was a growing pup he must have twisted himself so badly creating these scares. Winston is now a very healthy strong boy who acts like a puppy that doesn't want to be an outside dog anymore he is actually quite happy tossing toys in the air in his fosters apartment and coming over for a kiss while she is studying; cuddling up with his BC foster sibling; his daily walks and even some light jogging; and has learned how to relax for car rides. He has totally overcome fears of when his foster mom or roommate lift their feet they are not going to kick him or push him and the same is true for any reaching of their arms or body movement. Winston has only been in Austin TX foster care for just a few months, he really has enjoyed the trust and teaching of touch and human movements from his foster; he no longer tries to flea on the leash and can walk gently now; likes to play with dogs; he can be nervous/fearful with new people and is continuing to be introduced to strangers who come to visit and take him for a walks as well. Overall this boy is gently moving forward in life awaiting his Foster to Adopt/Adoptive Home. Winston is looking for a Foster to Adopt/Adoptive Home that can continue this trust in the home and with people. We are uncertain of his recall for a doggie park and will be starting to evaluate that and train for fun and safety. An ideal home for Winston is an apartment or condo; a human interactive break during a long work day (dog walker/home for lunch); children 8 and up that are gentle and appreciate a soft pup; daily walks and toy time inside the home and he is a happy pup! He is house trained, leash trained, prefers the floor to a crate. Winston's adoption donation is $275, there is an application to fill out and home visit if applicable. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-12-00321Brie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brie: 10 Months; Sex: Female; Activity Level: Active Companion; B/W Rough Coated Border Collie/Aussie; Weight 30 lbs. Were you looking for a pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than ... (Read More)just playing in the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reaction (Less)

Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction-things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition he has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet and quality kibble. An ideal home for him would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; great fun exercise in AM and PM and a human interactive break during a long work day (dog walker/home for lunch); an excited human partner to possibly do agility with of course having his own pack to bond with and enjoy. Drew's adoption donation is $325. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. He is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ****I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus Drew's training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises. Leash trained in scenic social human and pup neighborhoods; historic areas of Houston for stimulation within a city; walking trails and bike trails, mini hikes in areas that are socially oriented but also very peaceful; running errands with me and carpooling with another dog learning patience in the car and wait for the one on one lessons; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reaction; using the curious nature to enjoy all the smells at pet store and feel positive at the vets office.****** (Less)

Zoie is a gorgeous 'Heinz 57.' She is as friendly as can be, and although she is a slightly older girl, she still has lots of energy! Zoie needs a home with a good size backyard that is fenced in well. Zoie is house trained and needs a very slow introduction with new dogs, but would be best as an only dog so that she can soak up all of the love her family has to give!

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection.
