Meet Bear with Lone Star Aussie Rescue! Bear is a sweet 3 year old mini Australian shepherd looking for a special furever home. Bear came to rescue with no confidence at all and was scared of everything and everyone he didn't know. He would run and hide in the back of his crate and growl when he felt insecure. He has made leaps and bounds of progress while in foster care, and is fine being around new people now, but does still need someone patient and who understands that he may need a bit of time and space before he's ready to be pet/loved on and opens up to you. He is the sweetest, most cuddly, and loyal dog I know. He wants nothing more ... (Read More)than to please you and loves to give kisses, snuggle, and more than anything loves to play frisbee! ***Bear is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative, microchipped, and neutered.     Ellie is an 8 month old Shepard mix who was rescued from the local animal shelter (ACS). She is a super sweet, playful puppy. Although she is shy at first, she is learning to trust. She seems to do better with females and immediately loves other dogs. Ellie has been around cats and young children with no difficulties. Ellie may have some neurological issues as she walks awkwardly at times with some weakness in her hind legs. This doesn't stop her from any activities.     I had to rescue this pretty boy from a situation where he was in immediate danger. Due to the amount of rescue animals I currently have I was unable to keep him. I have been trying to find him a home for over two weeks. I have contacted everyone I know and several rescues to no avail. I have even offered to pay for someone to foster him and pay for his neuter. He is sweet, smart, funny, and extremely good-natured. It breaks my heart to see him in this position and he just does not deserve this. This is a very special boy and he deserves a home filled with love. He knows how to sit, shake, is housebroken and would be easily trainable. You can ... (Read More)see a video of him on facebook at Mid County Paws of Hope.     Howdy there Washington folksies! Hey you know what??? You should adopt me. I love people and you are likely a people if you are reading this. I am a laid back companion and I will listen to all your troubles and I do try to give advice right back, I am a talker, not a borker or annoying, just a chit chatter. I know baby puppies are cute, but they are also like boxes of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. With me, I am already finished and you know I am 50-60 pounds of goodness! I have 11 years of experience being a very affectionate and loveable Labrador/Shepherd mix girl. Bye the bye ... my adoption fee is only $200 ... (Read More)since I'm already here .... cool huh?? I used to live in San Antonio, Texas, but I moved to a Foster Home up north in the hopes of finally like finally reaching a final destination. I was saved by God's Dogs Rescue from the San Antonio city pound. It wasn't my first rodeo there, I was adopted once before and then ended up back at the concrete place not anything my fault, sometimes just life happens, you know? I am an older gal now, guessing maybe 11 years old, but who is counting right? My Foster Mom says I have the trot of a spry 6 year old dog and everybuddy knows age ain't nuthin but a number. As aforementioned, I am hot to trot and great at easy walks, very mobile. Also completely house trained, leash trained, kennel trained, and doggie door trained. If you adopt me I would never tire of your love, put as much on me as pawsible. I am also good with other dogs, any size, young or old, good with cats and kids. If you have been dreaming of a spending time with an easy going gentle dog, you should adopt me, please and thank you. Please email Debbie at DDavis@Godsdogsrescue.org and she will take it from there. See ya soon : ) GOD'S DOGS Rescue, in San Antonio TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. UPON adoption this dog/pup will be transported to you in YOUR area!! Each dog comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations that are appropriate for their age, micro-chipped, heart worm tested and on current on monthly flea/tick and heart worm preventative. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. ****Please realize that breed mix and size when grown are guesstimates based on the dog/pup's characteristics and coloring, unless we have mother/father in our rescue...***** ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE OF $200.00 for adoptions in TEXAS only. IF THIS IS AN OUT OF STATE ADOPTION, TRANSPORT TO YOU is included in the adoption fee of $400.00 for adult dogs and $450.00 for puppies. We transport all over the country!!     Riley: Age: 3 months; Sex: Male; Activity Level: Active Companion/Sports Dog Activities Training; Breed: Border Collie/Aussie Mix; Coat: Rough Coat. Riley is truly one that slipped through the door from his first home, of course we don't know his past and he hasn't told us either! Since I don't know his past I am delighted that he is comfortable with people and the dogs he has met, showing he has had positive experiences. Riley is very loyal, committed, intelligent bright young boy would do best in a home as t loves to train and do fun activities. He is the kind of herder that will still stay focused when going over choices for the ... (Read More)grocery list. The neat things about Riley: cuddles up for naps to his foster dad's chin; plays with his toys on the bed without destroying everything; he starting to bring objects to his foster vs hiding and chewing on them learning leave it and good; loves to go for car rides sitting in back seat quiet as a mouse; he is starting to retrieve his toys; learned sit and sit to down using his raw hide bone enjoying the challenge to tap into his smarts. Riley is also super easy to crate train, he doesn't use this much at his fosters home but feels safe and enjoys the crate. I know he will excel for leash training and tricks to use on leash as well as he does at home. He really enjoys an engaging human in his home; possibly a home with 1 older child he can really bond with; he can hold his own with stronger non alpha fun dogs leading him and would do well having this in his home and or continued socialization with play dates and walks; a home that gives a break (dog walker/home for lunch) during a long day as puppy to adult (rescue groups rules); a 6 foot fenced in property; and I feel that out of state adoption is possible if it is a full match and willing to come spend time with Riley as it is too dangerous for his health to take a road trip. Riley has had his first vaccine and bordatella, and is on heart worm and flea preventive, will be micro chipped and can be adopted with full vetting within rescue services and neuter when of age physical health $300 or on a neuter contract $250. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello there!! My name is Jayna and I'm ready to find my forever home!! When we first meet I'm going to be very cautious and shy. But I warm up very quickly. I really just want to be by your side and to be petted. My foster home has 3 dogs that I get along with just fine. We also have a cat here that I rarely pay any attention to. There is a 7 yr old who lives here too and I love him too. I am left loose in the house during the day and night with no problems! I've not had the best of starts in life and am really looking forward to finding my forever home. Jayna is a Female Collie/ Shepherd Mix that we estimate to be born around July 1, 2014 ... (Read More)and weighs 44 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Please meet Falcor! Falcor came to ASA from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, TX where he was surrendered by his owners. He is about 1yr old, 40lbs and has the most captivating smile you have ever seen. Falcor is deaf, so he will need a patient owner who is willing to work with him, or possibly someone who has experience with training deaf dogs. He is very well house trained and crate trained. He does get along with other dogs very well (cats are an unknown), although Falcor is a pretty sturdy boy and is still exhibiting some puppy-like behaviors, so we would be hesitant to place him in a home with small dogs and/or small children. ... (Read More)This boy is an absolute Velcro dog, and ADORES his human completely. He enjoys playing with his other Aussie foster brothers/sisters, likes playing with his toys, LOVES to play a game of catch, and will take any opportunity given to bask out in the sun! He does have some puppy behaviors that have lingered and you can tell his previous owners did not do much training with him, but he is a very smart boy and has come a long way in a very short time in his foster home! If you think you could be the answer to Falcor's 'happily ever after', please fill out an application through Australian Shepherd Advocates. (Less)

I have not had any accidents in the house so I am potty trained. I don't bark much but I do make some funny noises when I play with the other dogs. The longer I am with my foster family the more comfortable I am getting. I am cautious not to do anything that I should not or go anywhere I should not go. ... Egret is a Female Black Lab / Australian Shepherd Mix that we estimate to be around 2.5 years old and weighs around 40 lbs. Tip overcame a lot of fears and had some imprinting from the owner reaching/grabbing all the 8 puppies running free on her 3 acres in Louisiana. He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience. He is not suitable for cats and children/grandchildren as he is scared of people with fast movements and can fear bark it's just not a fit for him. I do feel he would benefit from another dog from in the home that would be his activity level and enjoy fun BC/Aussie play and or another close knit group of dog friends he can enjoy weekly play time with; crates nicely with a break during a work day, a 6 foot fence is required, and follow his diet as his colon is super sensitive and all of his training/diet have been laid out for the next journey in his life! If an out of area applicant would be a potential match it is required they come to Houston to meet Tip staying a few days to further the matching process. Application required, home visit required, donation $325. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-22-00441Duke (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Meet Duke a sprightly, active and lovable Australian Shepherd mix. Duke was rescued from the urgent list at a local animal shelter in December. His owner's surrendered him after having him many years due to him being too playful for a senior dog. Duke is doing great in his foster home which he lives in with three other dogs (1m, 2f). Duke's favorite activities include playing fetch, running, playing in water and laying at your feet. His paperwork states that he is 9 years old but from his personality, pearly white teeth and liveliness you would never guess it. Duke is neutered, UTD on shots, HW- and kept well groomed. Duke would do best in a ... (Read More)home with another dog to play with and a family that is both active and has time to give him the attention he deserves. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Submissive

This is happy go 'Lucky' the happiest dog around. He is timid with most people for about 5 minutes and after that...you're his best friend. He gets along with all dogs he has met, but he has a tendency to jump into playing before the traditional doggy smell introductions are made. This scares some dogs. Others just jump in and play. Lucky is house-trained, up-to-date on immunizations, neutered, and ready to be loved by his own person. If you would like to meet this feisty guy contact me.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-12-00321Brie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)
