Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

DIESEL is a very handsome Catahoula mix male dog who was picked up as a stray in Union City in NW TN. He likes to be around people but has also been content when crate rest was needed after his neuter. He is well behaved and crate trained. He likes to be petted and does not mind a good hug. He did test positive for heartworm and will undergo treatment for that. He is estimated to be 4 years old so he is a fairly mellow dog. He weighs 54 pounds. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Diesel if it means he will have a good forever home. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue to cover the cost of his vetting and neuter. (Less)

Animal ID: CopperCopper (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered

Are you ready for a four-legged Ferrari? Meet Copper -a neutered, 3 year old Aussie, full of high octane energy! There are pros and cons of owning this breed of dog. First-the pros: Anyone familiar with an Australian Sheppard knows they are highly intelligent eager to learn. They can be easily trained with positive reinforcement. They are also a herding breed that needs responsibility. In turn, they will be very protective. Copper is housebroken. He knows basic commands and has shown a great interest in Agility (his favorite is the tunnel). He walks well on lead and is highly focused with treats. He loves going for rides and ... (Read More)prefers to ride shotgun with the windows down. Now the con's: Aussies do not fare well if left alone. They can become insecure quickly that can lead to unwanted behavior. They crave companionship and need a job to do, and Copper is no exception. He needs daily exercise with a focus. Throw a Frisbee or a ball; take him for a hike or get him on an agility course-- He needs a strong leader to be his guide. Timid and shy need not apply. The ideal furever home will be an adult home with no children or small pets. His owner will need to lead an active lifestyle that will incorporate Copper. He has been an inside dog his entire life, therefore he will not fare well in an outdoor kennel. His herding instincts are solid, but we are unsure if this could pose an issue with livestock. His future owner will need to assess if further training is required to deter unwanted herding. Copper is full of love and spirit and will make a great companion for the right person who shares his need for speed. (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Tennessee Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
