Animal ID: 0553Austin (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Austin who is available for adoption! He was recently neutered, utd on shots, and reported to be three years old. He is deaf, but you'd never know. He's very smart, very curious, and very cuddly. As soon as you begin to pet him, he crumples to the floor for belly rubs. He loves to play like the typical Aussie, but he also loves to take a nice long nap. Due to his past life on a chain, I think he really enjoys napping in his crate (or on a cozy rug) where he is safe and secure. He reads cues from other dogs (and cat) really well, and doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. We are working on not jumping and not scanning the ... (Read More)countertops. He loves 1. Admiring himself in the mirror, 2. Running and playing in the backyard, and 3. Napping next to his people. Because he can't hear, he doesn't bark very often, but when he does, you've got to make an effort to settle him down. He's never barked for a few minutes at a time. Great dog! If you are interested in adopting this sweet pup, please fill out our adoption application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoptionapplication.php Adoption fee is $275 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts. Animal ID: 16-01-13-00853Magpie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Magpie is located at the Carroll County Humane Society, McKenzie, TN (West TN) We require an application process for all adoptions. 731-352-9950. Magpie - or Maggie - is a wonderful dog who came from a home where they had WAY too many dogs and were unable to care for them. Mags' mother is Black Beauty - also in our listings - and she had a litter of 7 puppies when her owner surrendered her. The puppies have been weaned and have found homes, so Magpie needs a home of her own. We are guessing that she is a black lab with some Aussie up in there to give her that blue merle coloring across parts of her body. She is very sweet, mellow, gentle, ... (Read More)unassuming, and good with other dogs. She loves her person and bonds quickly to them and prefers to stay where her person is. Magpie does not understand a fence and does not like being out in a fenced area by herself. If you are with her, she is wonderful and will follow you everywhere. If you go inside, she is expecting to go with you. She has decided that peanut butter is simply the best thing in the history of the planet and loves any kind of treat dipped in the stuff or just to get big licks of it right from the jar. She enjoys any treat or toy and seems surprised every time she gets one. We suspect this dog has had a hard life with endless litters of puppies, so now she simply needs a home where she will be pampered like the delicate princess she is. Mags is about 45-50 pounds, about 2 years old based on her teeth, heartworm negative, current on her vaccines and is spayed. Please ask about this wonderful dog. She is in foster care with Caroline.
