This sweet babies' mama showed up at a super nice couple's home, begging for food and water. They took her in and gave her plenty of food, water and lots of love. After leaving her in their closed in porch to go to work, they came home to find a big surprize - nine tiny puppies. Mama appears to be a border collie/Rottweiler mix. This little guy has had one parvo shot and wormed - looking for a loving home to call his own.

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Hennesey is a VERY loving dog. He loves both other dogs and cats(even though cats are not very fond of him) He was my daughters dog and we have had him since he was a puppy. Bottle fed when they brought him home. He is house trained and his favorite game is fetch! He would make anyone a wonderful pet. When he is inside he is very low energy...of course when he plays he is very high energy. We love him very much, but do not have the time (I work two jobs and am not home very much) or a place to keep him where he can run and play. I can't express enough what a GREAT dog he is!! He just needs a good loving home where he can run and play. ... (Read More)I am willing to help with the cost of having him neutered. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-21-00143Joey (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Joey is a 6-year-old, feisty mini Australian shepherd looking for a family that will give him lots of love and scratches. He is very much a people dog and would love to be the center of attention in your house. He can be an active boy, but he prefers laid back companions if any, so if you have a hyperactive dog who likes to play, he will not get along well with them. He loves nothing more than to sit on the couch with you and attempt to herd every animal that he sees on the TV. He is a very well-behaved dog who is completely houstrained, comes when called, knows how to sit, and understands what 'no' means. He does have anxiety in new ... (Read More)situations or when crated (not destructive whatsoever, but stresses himself out), so we are looking for a calm home where he can be free to relax. He gets scared very easily when people or dogs are being rowdy and get in his face, so if you want a dog that will play, Joey is not the dog for you. If you want a constant shadow who loves you to the moon and back, please apply. Being true to his breed, he does have strong herding tendencies and has bitten in the past, so we will not adopt him to a home with children or inexperienced dog owners. He needs a family who understands that he will take a lot of time to get comfortable, and that interaction in the beginning needs to be on his terms. Aussie experience strongly preferred! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-13-00174Rory (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rory was born on November 4th, 2007 ready to take on the world. He may be a miniature Australian shepherd but don't let the mini part fool you. He has enough guts and personality to fill two Great Danes! Rory loves to play any way he can, wether it's fetch or tug of war, he even loves chasing water out of a sprinkler. He has been a loyal friend, watch dog and protector since the beginning. Part of being a protector is being selective, Rory likes to keep a small circle of humans in his pack. He may need a few meetings to warm up to someone new but once you're in, you have a side kick for life and he will give more affection than you ... (Read More)know what to do with! Like many Aussies, Rory requires a lot of exercise and loves having a job to do so he can focus his energy. He likes a grain free diet to keep his skin and coat healthy and loves to chew on treats that are good for his teeth. Rory is looking for a new forever home. He has a strong personality so he will fair better by himself, maybe one other dog. Please no children, cats or other small pets. He is very smart and eager to please and is ready to be your new best friend. And of corse he loves belly rubs! (Less)

This is Riley, she is almost 7 years old, and while she can be very sweet and cuddly, she has a history of aggressive behavior, and even biting when scared. She is not comfortable with new people and new situations, and can show her aggression out of fear. I am currently pregnant, and while I love her so much, I cannot be comfortable with her and our new baby. I'm looking for someone who is experienced with these issues and can give her a loving home with no children. If you have any questions, are interested, or know someone who might be , please call/text/email.

Curly is a 9 mo. old intake male. Stunning in appearance. He is a very dominant dog. Unfortunately he is constantly at odds with our other dog (5yr. old spayed Aussie x Border Collie cross) who refuses to give up her alpha dog status. He can also be aggressive/protective toward other people and animals, but very devoted to his owner/family. Unfortunately, killing one of the family cats was the last straw for Curly! He MUST go. Curly is current on all his shots and heartworm/flea tick meds; vet records will be provided. If there is anything you can do for this fella, PLEASE contact me ASAP

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures,
 Aggressive

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] We are located in Concord, NC (near Charlotte, NC) and are willing to travel a reasonable distance to bring her to a new loving home or facility that will be able to help her! Callie is a 7 year old Australian Shepherd. We adopted her as a puppy. She has always been nervous around strangers but her nervousness has turned into some stranger aggression over the years. She is territorial with other dogs and protective over her owners. When boarded at a kennel, Callie has never bitten or been aggressive to workers but does exhibit cage aggression. Callie has never bitten anyone. We have two small children and have ... (Read More)decided it is best for all involved if we relocate Callie to a new home. Her new home needs to be free of children, have lots of opportunities for exercise, and an most importantly have an owner who will be patient in earning her trust and working with her issues. Callie's breed is a working dog so she does well when she feels she has a job to do. Callie has randomly occurring seizures. She will have a seizure once every 2-3 (+) months. She has been seen by a vet a couple years back and the vet did not see fit for medication since the seizures are not consistent. Callie has also had a benign growth removed twice from one of her paws. We HOPE you can help. This is sad for us but we know that it is for the best. We are trying to avoid bringing her back to a shelter for her health and to remove the risk of being euthanized. PLEASE HELP if you are able! (Less)

Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost North Carolina Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
