Rescue Me ID: 16-05-28-00202Josephine (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Adoption fee will be $250 PLUS $50 spay deposit - approved application REQUIRED. Josephine is a shy little girl who comes to us from Catawba, SC. She weighs in at approx. 8 lbs. Her approx. DOB is 2/23/16. Her paperwork lists her as a Chihuahua mix but I am 99% certain that is completely wrong. She has feet big enough to imply she will be a fair size (probably in the 35-45 lb range). She is fluffy like a possible Aussie or Retriever mix. She was most likely picked up as a feral as she is hand shy of humans. However unlike many previous rescue pups, she doesn't hide away in the puppy room but insists on being with us in the living room. She ... (Read More)just hides under the desk and tries not to let us touch her. If overly startled or frightened, she does take a puppy bite at our hands in hopes of being let go but is in no way aggressive. She is not afraid of the other dogs, large or small, and will bark defiantly at them. She will require time and socialization and should easily become a well adjusted pup. If interested, you must go to www.fullhousefullheartsdogrescue.com and fill out the online application. (Less)

Animal ID: 13401Jojo (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Are you looking for an active young companion? Are you looking for an Aussie because you love to train ? Are you looking for a performance sport prospect? Then Jojo may be your guy. Jojo is a 16 month old neutered red merle male with blue eyes. He is crate trained, housebroken, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is a bundle of love, energy and fun. Jojo loves to play, loves the water and swimming, driving in the car, fetching a ball, and most of all he loves affection from his people. Like most Aussies he does have a protective side so continued training is needed in this area. He has also been fostered with cats and ... (Read More)does fine with them, though like many Aussies might chase. Jojo likes to play with other dogs, but has a rough playstyle so will be placed as an only or with just one other dog. His play companion needs to have a similar playstyle and not mind roughousing, chasing etc. No senior playmates for this boy. Due to his energy level he will NOT be placed in homes with children under 14. A fenced yard is required for Jojo. We are also looking for a home that has previously owned Aussies or a similar breed. Jojo is going through his teenage phase so a home that sets limits is needed to help guide him into adulthood. Jojo is being fostered on Long Island. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-21-00159Jasper (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Jasper is a beautiful 2 year old purebred tri-colored miniature Australian shepherd. He is a sweet boy who loves attention. His favorite things are belly rubs until he falls asleep and playing fetch. He retrieves balls when thrown and is off-leash compatible. He needs a forever home with a family who can devote the attention to him that he needs. He is compatible with other dogs but would do best in a home where he doesn't have to share his owners with another. You must be aware of the energy and responsibility that you're taking on if you want to invite an Aussie into your family and home. I am only rehoming Jasper because I moved away to ... (Read More)college last fall and have discovered that my family doesn't have the time to devote the attention and love to Jasper that he needs. For this reason, he will only go to a home that is right for him. Please email if interested. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This adorable puppy was born about February 17, 2016 and may, this is a BIG may, end up weighing in the 35-65 lb. range. At this point their age and breed choices are just one BIG guess! Truly, if you are looking for something particular or you don't like surprises please do not inquire about these puppies, we don't want you disappointed or our dog to become homeless as a young adult because it got too big, stayed too small, or you or someone else feels it is another breed other than our guess. How did we make this guess? One is merle, Doxies, Shelties, Australian Shepherds, and Great Danes come in merle along with many other breeds so ... (Read More)we guessed somewhere in the middle. These puppies are very social, happy, have been healthy, and are fun, wonderful babies! We have absolutely no idea of parentage and no knowledge how they ended up at the high kill shelter. The shelter must kill so fast, due to the population problem, that they seldom ask for information because it takes time and most of the time it just doesn't matter..... We are so glad these mystery puppies made the trip! (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Jackson Brown and Annie Poppy (both born April 4, 2016) are VERY VERY lucky to be alive as they almost 'didn't make it' TWICE! Their mommy is Poppy Paladino shown in the picture. Poppy was 'pulled' from a high kill shelter in the south. If Joyful Rescues didn't rescue her, she and her unborn babies would have been euthanized (due to overpopulation - please spay/neuter/rescue!). Poppy was brought to Joyful Rescues, adopted and sent to be spayed prior to adoption (100% of Joyful Rescues' pets - including puppies and kittens are spay/neutered prior to adoption). In the process of being spayed, when Poppy was 'opened up' it was discovered ... (Read More)that she was quite pregnant, even though she didn't have a big or noticeable belly. So to save the lives of the pups, Poppy was 'closed back up' and sent to a foster home. Within a couple of weeks Poppy delivered 2 happy healthy pups (Jackson Brown Poppy and Annie Poppy- all named in honor of Poppy's adoptive parents who lost their sister, who was lovingly known as Poppy). Poppy has been adopted and the 2 pups will be spay/neutered and ready for adoption around the end of May. (Less)

Charlie came to me through a friend who tried to rescue her but could not keep her due to having 3 dogs, a cat and two small children, which at the time, was just two much for her to handle. I took her and have tried to get her to come out of her shell but I have had very little luck. She has gotten better but still can be aggressive at times and I just don't think I have the training or time to break her. I want what is best for her at the end of the day so I'm posting her on here with hopes she can find a loving home with someone who knows how to handle this type of dog in her situation. She will be turning 5 This summer and is house ... (Read More)broken and crate trained. This is a serious inquiry only type of dog and does need a home where someone will be around to run her and work with her to try to make her quality of life better than I can currently. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sugar Bear is possibly the most loyal friend you could ever ask for. She is crazy about her humans and is always at their side. She is a 3 year old, 37 lbs very pretty Aussie mix. Her FAV past times include: snuggling, going on walks, play time with her doggie friends, going on adventures, sitting for treats and even more snuggling! She is smart and learns new things very quickly. At just 37 lbs, this pup has a big heart and lots of love to give! Sugar Bear is not a dog we would recommend for city living as she is a bit skittish of loud noises and needs to be introduced to new people slowly. She would do best in a home with another playful ... (Read More)dog and no young kids as well as someone who has the flexibility to be home during the day. We require a fenced in yard not electric fence. Sugar Bear is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $375. Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Indy is a loving affectionate dog who thrives on attention from his trusted people. His favorite things are chasing tennis balls, car rides and snuggling on the sofa. Indy is an easy dog to live with--content to toss a toy on his own, play a little catch and snuggle with his family. Indy has endured some challenges in his 7 years--including being abandoned in a shelter and taunted by children. He has some resulting anxiety which is effectively managed with a daily low dose of Reconcile/Fluoxetine ($45 for 2 months) and providing him with a stable adult only home. When anxious he can become 'yippy' so would not be suitable for apartment or ... (Read More)condo living. Indy is crate trained and has perfect manners. He would enjoy a traditionally fenced yard and a doggy sister if possible. He also is very good with cats. With just a bit of patience to give Indy the time to settle into his new home, a lucky adopter will have a well trained, fun-loving and happy dog who will give them years of devotion and affection. He is currently being fostered on Long Island. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please.     Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
