|Rescue Me ID: 16-11-27-00132Carly and Nena (female)|
These animals are bonded. Litter mates (sisters), never been separated. They just turned 4 years old. They have never been aggressive, but do not get along well with cats (they chase them). With children and other dogs, they are fearful and anxious, but have never snapped at a child, and adult, or another animal. They were adopted from Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles, MO at 6 weeks old and have been in my care. Still, the black dog, Carly, shows signs of abuse. She cowers to being petted sometimes and is very attached to me. Nena (Nenna), the blonde brindle is more independent and warms up easier to children and adults alike. However, she barks at men. I don't know if something happened to them at a very young age, or it is just the breed that keeps Nena barking at men. I went out of town for a week in September and my parents kept them. My mom says Nena stopped barking at my dad after a couple days, so it could be that she is protective of me, which is the nature of the Aussie. They have all their vaccinations, are up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick and I have all of the documentation. They were spayed early on at 8 weeks per request of Five Acres Animal Shelter (at that time, I was just fostering them, but then kept them). Very docile animals, listen well, house-broken, no chewing, no digging. If they get confused or upset because I've been gone too long, the worse they do is move my shoes around. They groom each other. Lots of 'ear baths'. They eat once a day and enjoy their 'cookies' (milk bones). I hope that the loving person that gives them a home has some land or a big yard, because Carly loves to run! But, they have never tried to run away. They are very loving and loyal, to each other and to their humans. They are bonded. Please do not separate them, if possible. Nena weighs 55 lbs, Carly, who was the runt of the litter, weighs 30 lbs. Carly has a left luxating patella (her kneecap might slip out of place, she straightens her leg and fixes it), but it hasn't given her problems for over a year. She hops down stairs on three legs though. Other than that, you'd never know. I gave her glucosamine from Petco and that cured it. Nena has a limp she developed a month ago. The vet said she has tendonitis in her shoulder. I'm sure it's from going down hard wood floor stairs and slipping. She has no pain, just limps a little. The vet wrote for Capuprofen and I give her glucosamine chondroitin every day too. My heart is so broken. These dogs are my babies. I am moving to an apartment with my partner and she is very allergic to animals. Besides, taking these girls to live in an apartment is not the most loving thing to do. My hope is that a loving someone can make their home a new home for my girls. They are fantastic pets and sweet, sweet animals. I love them with all my heart. (Less)

Cody is a 7 year old black tri male who thinks he is 2. He looks like a border collie mix, but is smaller, about 35 pounds. He is comical and loves to play with our standard Aussie. Cody seems to have had a rough start in life. He has a scar on his left ear that keeps it from standing up and may be missing part of his tail. Cody is a smart and is learning to walk on a leash and sit/stay. He likes other dogs/cats, but does have some food aggression. We keep him separate from the other dogs at meal time. He is house broken, but does not tolerate being crated. He is loving and joyful and really just wants to be someone's dog. Located in Ewing, MO. |Rescue Me ID: 16-03-14-00087Youri (male)|
This sweet young boy came to me from someone who was just going to dump him. He is completely deaf. He is about 1 1/2 yrs old. He is doing really well with his commands and we have started work with a vibrating collar. His socialization is still a work in progress. He is really good at home, but gets scared when you take him out in public. He can be a little shy at first but once he gets to know you he will stick with you.He is house broken and crate trained, and rides really well in a vehicle.Feel free to contact me with any questions or for more pics.We can also set up a meet and greet for anyone interested. When adopted, you will receive coupons for training lessons. If the vibrating collar goes with him the adoption fee will be a little higher. (Less)

Great dog for an active person who would love to feel protected and loved unconditionally. He is on heartworm prevention...you recieve a years supply with adoption. He is micro chipped...and will have his current vaccination records, tags etc with him at that time. He is strong so he's not for a frail person. He is crate trained but not house broken. He has had a companion dog the size of a Beagle and has played well with him.His adoption fee will cover cost of vet fees.

Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.
