I'm not able to give him as much attention as I anticipated. He needs a lot of attention and land to run around in. He listens to the commands sit, stay and come. He always has a lot of energy but if you want to just sit and lay down he will join you at your feet! He loves carrots and playing. He has a little problem with jumping and nibbling but that can be fixed with a little training.

Shelley is energetic enough for playtime, yet mellow enough to enjoy cuddling too. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Goose is definitely an amazing individual, where most people would turn away or not even try to help him, some of my wonderful fosters stepped in. Here is his story... Goose was supposed to be euthanized due to the fact that he is a 9 yr old blind and deaf dog, that most people would claim, 'pointless to help', we think of him as a miracle dog. Goose is estimated to be a Aussie/Collie/Mix, 9 yr old, very sweet guy looking for his forever home. He is scheduled next week to be neutered and completely vetted. Don't let his age, or the fact that he is blind and deaf fool you! This guy can keep up with all the other dogs, is quite active, and ... (Read More)does great manuevering around the house and yard once he knows where everything is at. Goose loves everyone and does great with the other dogs. We're super happy he's in our care, and can't wait to meet the special person that'll be lucky enough to have this guy as their companion. Please contact me if you'd like an adoption application to fill out and/or if you'd like more info on Goose's adoption fee/adoption process. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-04-00243Chief - IN TRAINING (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello folks!!! My name is Chief and I am a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie)/Border Collie mix. I am a non- shedding type. I am about 1.5 years old. My foster mom calls me 'little boy' cause I am very sweet. I love affection and like to sit on your lap. Keep in mind that I am of the herding breed so I like to herd dogs, people, cats and little kids. So when deciding on the 'best fit' for your home, I have an impulse to nip at your heels. This is instinctual and I mean no harm but little kids should be taught not to run in my presence as it would be a game for me!! I get along with other dogs and cats but do become the 'bothersome little ... (Read More)brother' after a while because of my herding. I would need an active family who can supply me with simulation and activity to keep me out of trouble. I do like to chew some things that are not mine to chew but I would expect that this can be controlled with boundaries and keeping some things out of my site. I weigh about 50 pounds. I am entering the RPSM Prison Companion training program for 10 week at Lakeland Correctional facility on May 20th. If you think that I would make a good fit for your family, please submit an application at www.rpsm.org. I'm neutered and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older. I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $350. (Less)

Animal ID: 1072Thor (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Thor is a 3 year old Chow Mix who has recently found himself in need of a new home. His previous owners rehomed him after having a baby. Thor wasn't thrilled about having a new sibling and would have preferred the new crawling being to have had fur and a tail. When he was rehomed he lived with two other dogs, but his new parents found him to be too much to handle, so here he is again in need of a home where he fits. Thor is young and full of life and will do best with an active family and a home with a fenced in yard. An owner with Chow experience would also be ideal so that Thor has someone who 'gets' him!

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
