Animal ID: 0046Max (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Max is a large Aussie male, with striking coloration, Black, white and a little gray. he is 8 months old and weighs 50 lbs roughly. He has good intelligence, very loving to our family, in the right hands and more training max could be a very good fit into your family or just an individual also. We are leaving the country around September, and Max needs a new home. Max would make a good farm Dog, or a country dog he has good obedience to the commands of sit, and come, but these things also need more training. Max has loved our boys from the beginning. And now for some of the problems with Max. He likes to jump up on us, and he likes to play ... (Read More)nip at us which we dont really like. We have wondered if this is his herding instinct? We have tried teaching him to stay down, but he has not yet obeyed this command yet fully. Also the biggest problem that max has is he has bitten a few children, and he has also made an attack on two people but he has not injured them, i have had to call him off. Max is not neutered yet, he has a high testosterone level yet which may contribute to this action according to the Vet. It is our plan to have Max neutered the first week of August, unless someone wants him before then and will neuter him themselves. Max is aggressive with strangers, people he dont know, adults or children. But he has accepted a few without incendent. Overall we feel that Max has good potential to grow and learn and be more acceptable with adults and children, and to become an asset to a family, or individual. Thanks Tim Cole (Less)

This sweet, sweet girl is Zoe. Zo came to us from the same place that our feral St. Bernard mix pups came from-- and she too is a little bit shy. Zoe is about 2 years old and is an Australian Shepherd mix. She is very sweet, has an extra long tongue that peeks out of her mouth while she sleeps, and has totally captured our hearts. Zoe loves to spend time in our yard, she loves sleeping in the sun, she is quiet and well behaved in the house, and she enjoys spending time in her crate because it is her 'safe space.' Zoe is a great dog who will make someone an excellent companion... she is just looking for a quiet home with a new family with a ... (Read More)little bit of patience (and plenty of treats!). Do you think you are the one for Zozo? If you are interested in adopting Zoe, please send us a message or read over our policies at and fill out a dog Adoption Application at (Less)

Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Kansas if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
