|Rescue Me ID: 17-11-29-00161Red (male)|
Please read entire description. Red's adoption fee is $150. The first and required step of the adoption process is to complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Meet Red. He was a victim of serious neglect along with his dad and sister. His dad has been happily adopted, and his sister is currently in the same foster home as Red waiting on a forever family. Red is a retriever mix guy who is about 4 years old. He has spent the majority of his life in a pen inside a barn. Before being confiscated he even spent several days without food. Red slowly acclimated to life outside of this situation and is loving life as a treasured dog in a home setting. Red is a very loving, gentle guy. He is a bit shy at first due to the lack of socialization for most or all of his life. Considering what he has been through, he is actually pretty trusting. The quickest way to his heart is with food, of course. Red has learned that food can be a reward for good behavior and he's loving that concept. This poor guy was very underweight at first and is slowly gaining weight back. He currently weighs 56 pounds. He will probably weigh around 60 pounds once he fills out. Red has been in a playgroup with other dogs and is getting along with everyone. He doesn't play really; he is more into roaming around near the others and waiting for the next treat opportunity. Red will require a home with another sweet, calm, confident dog that can show Red the ropes. Red also needs to have medium sized dogs or larger in his life. He is not so great around small dogs or cats. He is friendly with children and is currently residing with a young child in his foster home, but would likely benefit from a not-too-busy household. Red is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He recently had an ear surgery that healed up very nicely! Red is looking for a patient, loving family who will continue to help him learn new things and experience life outside of a pen. Red is house trained and crate trained. If you would like to meet Red please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-11-29-00150Missy (female)|
Please read entire description. The first and required step of the adoption process is to complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. Meet Missy. If you keep a watch on our page, you have seen a couple of Missy's family members--Rambo her dad and Red her brother. Just like her family, Missy was taken from her home due to severe neglect over several years. Poor Missy was terribly emaciated and had been grossly undersocialized, spending at least the most recent few years of her life in a pen without opportunity to ever leave it. While we understand you will feel sorry for her, we also want you to be proud of Missy because she is an amazing trooper who has persevered. She is quite friendly, loves attention and has adjusted amazingly well to an indoor life! Missy is a 4-year-old mixed breed girl. Her brother and dad appear to have some golden retriever, but with her we also see aussie or collie or whatever else you can think of. Missy still often needs a moment to warm up around new people, but that moment is usually brief and then she is all about attention. Surprisingly Missy has great house manners. She picked up the rules very carefully. Her forever family will have to patient with her though as she will need some time to transition and to learn some basic commands. It is really important for us to add here, that Missy absolutely loves white toys. If you give her a choice between any colors, white will be her go to toy. That's pretty smart! Missy will need another friendly dog in her forever home. She loves her brother Red and has been the most relaxed since they were reunited in their foster home (they grew up isolated in separate, but neighboring pens). Missy, however, will not do well in a home with small critters and cats. In her current foster home, Missy has been living with a young child and doing great. She is gentle and calm. Missy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and crate trained too. f you would like to meet Missy please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.
