Rescue Me ID: 15-11-10-00010Koda (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Koda is a very active dog.He has been getting very territorial and aggressive with myself and teenaged daughter. He is very high energy and needs alot of space to run around, which I cant provide right now because I live in a condo..He can be very protective of his owners.Im afraid because he has bitten my daughter and myself.I dont want him to bite anyone else and Im very nervous thats going to happen..90% of the time he is a playful happy dog,but can be very tempermental. Im in a very difficult spot right now and I need to find a loving home for him preferably with no children and someone who does have the time and space who can train him.I ... (Read More)believe if he had all the exercise he needs he will be a good dog for someone.I dont have the time to get him trained and work most of the day which is not fear to him.We love him very much and would like to try and place him in a home where he can really run and be a great dog.I think that is a big part of the aggressiveness we have had with him.He does stay in a large crate at bedtime and hes very comfortable in it.He will do anything for treats also.sit, come stay.He seems more comfortable around smaller dogs than bigger dogs. What he really needs is someone who can spend more time with him and train him...alot of space to just run! Rescue Me ID: 15-10-16-00692Suzi Q (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

I rescued Suzi Q from a puppy mill around 6 weeks or so of age (have no paperwork to prove full bred nor correct age).My heart tells me that she really is a one family dog so I am not even sure if I should be doing this, but I have no choice as she just got my grandson in the face. Nothing to serious this time, but I can't wait to see if there will be a next; especially since # 2 is soon to be born. The reason I say 'one family' because when I went out of town for a week--she was 2 I think-- she basically just sat in a corner and mopped and got really depressed and stopped eating and drinking water. When I returned, it took me 3 weeks to get ... (Read More)her to eat again. I have never left her alone like that since. A month after getting her, we rescued another female dog from a kill shelter--will be making a listing for her too. The 2 of them really need to be adopted together in a family with no other dogs. When I had gone out of town, Canela (the other red heeler/shepherd mix...the shelter's guess on her breed) was playing with my friend's dog and Suzi was getting jealous. For some reason, she really doesn't like anyone but our immediate family. She does not do well around children, men, or if a person is wearing a hat or uniform. I have no idea why that is. She is also picky about her dog food and only like Purina Beneful or the Purina One. She will starve herself before eating other dog food brands. Therefore, I need a couple whom have big hearts and ton of patience with Suzi's stubborn side. Oh, I she does not like thunderstorms. She shakes miserably. Also unfortunately we moved away from the vet we could afford when the economy crashed in 2009 and have severe health issues and we have not had the money to get their medical needs addressed. But they seem healthy to me. Actually instead of another ad: Canela was guess to be 3-5 months old we got here and they both are around 50 pound dogs. Canela is kind of the dopey dog of the 2 and usually has to have Suzi help get her out of her predicaments when they occasionally escape. (Canela has only escaped off her collar once, but Suzi jumps up in the air and flicks her neck and gets her collar off even though we feel like it is almost too tight). Canela does a little bit better with strangers and children versus Suzi but we still monitor them anyways. Canela is neutered the same as Suzi. Again vaccinations need updated on both and health screenings. I really hate that I have to do this. They are really part of my family, but I can't risk another bite and my grandson and started wheezing around them too due to his asthma. If you can please help I would appreciate greatly. Remember both dogs to the same home only. Preferably someone with a big fenced yard or a farm. (Less)

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
