Rescue Me ID: 17-08-06-00495Louie (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Louie dog, an adorable scruffy and sweet fellow looking for his forever home. Louie was born in December 2014 so he's 2.5 years old currently and weighs in around 55 pounds. Louie was adopted from Pal's Place rescue when he was just a young pup. He was originally rescued from a kill shelter in KY with his 4 littermates. 3 of his siblings looked like Aussies and Louie and one of his sisters had wiry coats and body types similar to a Schnauzer. Louie was recently returned to Pal's Place for placement when his original adopters welcomed a baby into their home. They felt Louie may not be the best match for a home with young children and ... (Read More)regrettably surrendered back to the rescue. Louie can be a little timid/aloof when meeting new people but warms up quickly with some kinds words and treats. He exhibits many characteristics of herding breeds like Aussies and Border Collies and when he is very excited or overstimulated he can be a little mouthy when playing and occasionally likes to nip at people's ankles. He's very intelligent, active and eager to please and will make a great dog for someone looking to participate in dog sports (agility, flyball, rally etc) with a new companion. He knows several tricks and commands and has been introduced to agility and he absolutely loved it. Louie is very well behaved in the home and is house trained and crate trained. Louie's ideal home would be with someone familiar with herding breeds and with a family that would be interested in furthering his training. He'll be happiest in a home that can provide him with daily mental and physical stimulation. This boy loves to learn and work! He also does well with other dogs and loves visiting the dog park. He'd be a good buddy for an existing canine. Louie is anxious to meet his forever family, could it be yours!? He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and very healthy. His adoption fee to the rescue is $275. He is in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved. For more information or for an adoption application, please email 'ۢLouie's adoption donation is $275. This donation helps to cover his neuter, initial vaccines, initial worming, and microchip. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive

Meet Disney (aka Dizzy)! Dizzy is about 1-2 yrs old and weighs about 35 lbs. Dizzy came to us from Animal Rescue Corps Operation Mayday 2. He was rescued from a situation where he was living outside on a chain. This poor boy has had a rough start in life and now he is looking for a new beginning. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he is incredibly timid and nervous. He loves other dogs of all sizes and we will require he be placed with another confident, well adjusted dog that can help show Dizzy the ropes. His new family will need to be patient and work on building his confidence. He has been doing well with his housetraining, but ... (Read More)occasionally displays some submissive peeing that is getting better as he becomes more confident and comfortable. We think Dizzy would do best in a home without young children. We will require adopters to attend A Sound Beginning Program classes with him. Dizzy's adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of his vetting. Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-23-00457Jolene and Little Bear

Australian Shepherd    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Fixed, Vaccinations Current

Jolene and Little Bear are a bonded pair of mini Australian Shepherds. They are assumed to be siblings and the vet has aged them at 10 years old. They are both utd on all vetting and heartworm negative. Little Bear is the sweetest boy you could ever want. He loves attention and gets along well with all types of animals. He is fully house trained and walks nice on a leash. He is a very tolerant boy, he does great for baths, brushing, tooth brushing and nail trimming. Low energy level and perfectly happy to sit and cuddle as long as you will let him. Jolene is a little more aloof than her brother when it comes to getting attention. ... (Read More)She enjoys belly rubs but isn't much of a cuddler. She is very tolerant also, does great with baths, brushing, tooth brushing and nail trimming. Jolene is fully house trained and great with people and other dogs. She is very obsessed with cats. She doesn't hurt cats but she can not contain her excitement when they are around. She will try to herd the cats and push them with her nose. So a home with no cats or very easy going cats that are used to dogs is a must. She has had chronic ear infections that have gone untreated so she does not hear well. She is low energy but will follow cats around for hours if she can. Little Bear and Jolene must be adopted together and the right home is a must. They will require someone willing and able to provide the necessary vet care as they age. They don't need a lot of room to run but a fenced yard is important. Adopting senior pets is very rewarding and these two will give you all the love they have! (Less)

I have one blue eye and my other eye is mostly brown with a chunk of blue! I am very smart! I know sit, lay down, shake, sit pretty, speak, stay, and kennel. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Illinois Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
