Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there everyone! My name is Payton and I am a playful 10 week old mixed breed puppy. My brother and sister and I came to Illinois with my mom, Sweet Pea, to start a new happy life. We traveled all the way here from Alabama where things were not looking good. My mom had 9 of us babies and then we were all dumped in a high kill shelter. Unfortunately, being in the shelter claimed the lives of 6 of our brothers and sisters. I was one of the lucky ones! My foster mom volunteered to save my siblings and my mom and so now we are healthy, safe, clean, fed, and loved. All we need is a forever home! My mom is thought to be mixed with ... (Read More)Beagle, maybe a little terrier. We aren't really sure who our dad is. I have fuzzy brindled hair which just makes me the cutest boy ever! My legs are longer than both of my siblings, so I may grow up to be standard height. My mom is small though and only weighs 25 lbs. so I my foster mom doesn't think I am going to get too big. I love to play and chase a ball through the yard. I get along great with other dogs and enjoy having someone around to play with and rough house. . I will need someone who is home most of the day. You see, since I am so young, I will need someone who can teach me to walk on a leash, go potty outside, and generally be a good puppy. If you think that you can love me and help me to learn how to be a good puppy, I may just be the one to win your heart over. Please email Kathy for an application or more information about me at My adoption fee is $295 which includes my first 2 puppy shots, frontline, 30 days of pet insurance, a free vet visit with one of Casey's participating vets. It also pays for my neuter and microchipping to be free, when the time comes, with one of Casey's vets. (Less)

Luna is a beautiful Aussie mix, with one blue eye, but takes after the size of a beagle. Luna was raised with a family for almost two years. But, sadly her family surrendered her to the local vet. She is housebroken, good with other dogs and very sweet. She loves to run and play, so a fenced in yard would be perfect! Look at that face--irresistible! Her adoption fee is $295 and includes her spay, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

DOB 1/2/14 Meet absolutely beautiful what we believe may be Corgi/Aussie mix. Well socialized, raised in a home with children and other dogs, she has a great all around personality. She was found in Kentucky and rescued by one of our wonderful 'sisters in rescue'. If she entered the local shelter, we knew she had little chance of making it out since there are SO MANY homeless puppies out there!. She contacted Casey's Safe Haven to see if we could accept her into our adoption program. Wendy is a strong little girl and is still a puppy, so she will need continued training and socialization in her new home.. Her adoption fee is ... Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00600Star (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Star is 7-10 years old, in good health and extremely loving. She weighs about 70 lbs and sometimes thinks she's a lap dog. She is house trained, loves sleeping on a garden table on our shaded patio and swimming in our ponds. On the negative side, she is dominate over others dogs, jumps on people when excited/attention starved, and freighted of loud noises such as thunder, fireworks and gunshots. We adopted her five years ago and believe she may have abused at some point in her life because she cowers when afraid or being spoken to harshly. We hate to see Star go, but she needs space to run and we're moving due to a change in jobs and do ... (Read More)not believe she would fair well in a town house in a big city. Would prefer Star going to a farm or home with lots of space, but a nice fenced yard with a loving family would be good too. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-07-00197Jack (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack is a 2 year old standard Australian Shepherd weighing about 40 lbs who came into ASRM as an owner surrender. He's very energetic and loving. He wants nothing more than to have his persons's love and attention. He is young, but he does very well with house rules when they are clear and enforced from the beginning. His attention span is improving all the time, and once he has his permanent home he will settle down even more into the house routine.Jack has learned good leash manners with his foster mom. He gets excited to see other dogs, but has learned not to bark his opinion. He was not socialized with dogs before being fostered, so ... (Read More)his interactions with a new dog should be slow and monitored for the first couple hours helps to make sure that no one gets offended at their personal space being invaded by this big goofball. Once acquainted, he is very friendly with dogs. He would be fine in a house with a cat that is not skittish. Since Jack is energetic at this age, he would be best suited to a home without toddlers, with children that are old enough that they can't be knocked over by a silly 40 lb Aussie. Jack is also crate trained, and has never had an accident in the house. He loves to play fetch, and is quite good at catching balls and Frisbees out of the air. He knows the basics of obedience such as sit, down, wait, stay, leave it. 'Leave it' is his newest trick, because Jack has a very strong chase instinct. He loves to watch cats inside, squirrels, rabbits, birds, and even bugs in the yard, but has learned to make eye contact with foster mom to ask permission before chasing. Due to his high prey drive he will need to always be on leashed or in a fenced yard when he goes out.Jack loves people and is always excited to see them. He catches on to new tasks or commands very quickly, and at the same time is a hilarious klutz. He loves belly rubs and has recently discovered the joy of chewing on bones. As long as he has a day filled with a combination of mental and physical exercise, belly rubs he is a happy boy who loves to shadow his foster mom from room to room. He has improved by leaps and bounds just in the couple months since he was taken into ASRM, and he can't wait to find his forever family so they can share his continued progress with him.Jack is neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. He is currently on heartworm preventative and frontline for flea and tick prevention. Jack is being fostered in Central IL. (Less)

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
