Rescue Me ID: 17-04-27-00586Fern AKA Shelly (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Fern! Australian Shepherd Mix DOB 1/31/13 Fern came to us in early 2013 as a puppy and was adopted to a family that named her Shelly...that is where her AKA name comes from! Her previous family has a male dog that is not neutered, creating an odd dynamic between the 2 dogs. This dynamic caused some jealousy between the 2 dogs and Fern becoming protective of her family. The family has decided that it would be best to find her another home and has returned her to our rescue. Fern was evaluated by Millbrook Veterinary clinic and found to be good dog that needs to be given attention and know that she is loved. We also had her ... (Read More)evaluated by the trainers at Woof Beach who found her to be a very trainable dog that may be feeding off of the energy in the home. They suggested that rehoming would be best for her. We then asked one of our boarding partners - The Water Bowl to take her in and observe her behavior. She has been there for just about a week and is a big hit with everyone! Fern has been absolutely wonderful with both male and female humans that she interacts with and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention and be loved. She freely gives kisses and is determined to please. They have also introduced her to dogs of all ages and sizes. She interacts wonderfully in her play groups with male and female dogs alike. Just today, she was running and playing with a group of about 6 other dogs and having a wonderful time. Fern is looking for a family that she can give all of her love to and only wants to be loved in return. If you are that family...willing to give unconditional love...please ask us how to meet Fern! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-03-00053Ghost (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ghost is an ENGLISH SHEPHERD, but the closest option listed here was Aussie. Ghost is very handsome, happy and active young boy. He loves his family and will protect them. He loves fetch, running, hiking, and anything active. But he will also settle down and take a long nap next to you while you work or need down time. Ghost does not like children, and gets overwhelmed with groups of people. He would do best in a place with a couple adults without many guests over and a yard to play in.

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Are you ready for a lifetime of fun and adventures with a devoted canine companion? Do you need a buddy with whom to watch sports on tv? Well, I would like to apply for the job. My name is Deacon, and I am a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix; lucky for you, I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a pretty good looking dude if I say so myself. My coat is decorated with caramel and white swirls, and I have handsome hazel eyes. And I am about 40 pounds of lively love! My friends at Fetching Tails ... (Read More)Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Ever since my foster mommy took me into her home, I have been having a total blast playing with her female pittie mix Rey (who is a Fetching Tails alumna! She tells me all the time in our doggie language that I will find a great forever home for myself just like she did!) We love to run around in the backyard together and play together inside, and play with our toys and chew bones together, basically playing together as much as possible. I love to play and be active, so I would love a forever family that likes to be active, too; I could be a great workout buddy if you need a friend on long walks. It would also be amazing to have another dog friend; I think a canine companion about my size and energy level would be a perfect fit! We can keep each other entertained and be best friends forever. And I am serious about watching sports on tv: it doesn't matter what sport, if there is a game on the telly I like to get right up in front of it and keep an eye on the ball. So when we are all done going on fun adventures and playing, I would be the happiest dog alive if we could watch a highlights reel or two on ESPN together. I have great house manners and I am learning even more all the time! I am potty trained, and I do fine resting in my crate while foster mommy goes to work. She says I am very good at letting my people know when I have to go outside and 'take care of business.' I know a few basic commands, including sit, stay, and give paw. I love to learn, and Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend training courses with their new pups, so I think it would be a lot of fun if we could take a few classes together. I love to go on long walks, but I can get excited and pull a little strong, so maybe we could work on leash skills together in doggie school? More than anything, I would love a family that is up for fun and adventures like I am, and a family that will love me for life! If I sound like I could be the fun-loving, active, spunky (And did I mention cuddly and affectionate? Because I am definitely a cuddlebug, too!) sports-junkie for you, please get in touch with my foster mommy at Fetching Tails and tell her you are ready to watch the World Series with me! Love, Deacon If interested please fill out an application on our website at or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements: *Be at least 21 years of age *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment *Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)
