. Male Beagle/Aussie/Jack Russell mix. DOB 2/20/14 Approximate weight - 30lbs Bandit was abandoned in rural Kentucky during one of the coldest winters on record. He was lucky to have been found by a wonderful rescue angel that knew he deserved a much better life! Bandit is a happy little ball of energy. He is always super excited to see you... if you have been gone for hours, or you just let him in from the back yard after 5 minutes. He is attentive, and eager to please; a very quick learner. He can be left alone, out of his crate, for a few hours without him getting into anything he's not supposed to We have been working on training; he ... (Read More)is proficient with sit and lay down. He makes good eye contact waiting for your direction, and he waits patiently after his food is put down for his cue to chow down. Stay is a work in progress. He takes a little while to warm up to other dogs, and seems to be protective of his space. Having said that, he became fast friends with the resident pooch in his foster home, but it was not without the requisite barking, growling, posturing, and hair raising. That episode lasted for about 5 minutes before they were let loose in the back yard together to figure each other out. After about 10 minutes of testing each other's limits... they have been playing non-stop ever since. Having another dog in the home is very beneficial for him! His playmate is also young so his high level of energy is matched by hers. Bandit loves everyone, old and young. He loves getting attention from grown people, but also seems to love big hugs from small people. When you first meet him one of the first things you notice (after getting over his adorable little fuzzy face), is that he has some of the most gorgeous eyes ever... one is light blue, and the other is mostly brown, with some light blue at the top. Sometimes he gets his left lip rolled up near his gums like dogs do on occasion, which just makes him that much cuter! This little guy has Jack Russell and Aussie traits, but his unbridled love and excitement makes him more than worth it for the right home! Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter at our participating vets, immunizations/shots up to the point of adoption, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption.     Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.
