Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered

I was rescued from life on the road in Hartwell after fending for myself for 4 months or maybe more. Not sure how i ended up there, maybe abandoned or escaped a bad situation. However, i am adapting very well to my foster home. I love playing with my 2 foster sisters and would really like a 4 legged playmate in my forever home. A fenced yard is an absolute must. Also, someone who has the time to train me to become the best Aussie i can be. My foster mom needs to arrange a home visit to be sure i will be safe and sound in my new home.

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Kalypso is a sweet girl once she gets to know you. She loves to play and be active. She loves going on runs and likes to be cuddled. She seeks a lot of attention once she feels comfortable. She is a nervous dog, and she does not like to be approached if she does not know you. She might even nip at your heels, hands, or bite, which is normal for a herding breed like hers. She needs lots of exercise, such as running and playing fetch, unfortunately I am not able to provide that for her, and my mom is sick with fibromyalgia so we can't keep her anymore and give her a quality life.

PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Shepherd in Georgia
Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Georgia Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
