Rescue Me ID: 18-04-24-00022Apple (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Apple is an 8 week old Shepherd mix. Her mom is a black and white, 41lb shepherd, and we believe dad may have been aussie due to their coloring. Apple and her siblings are some of the coolest looking pups! They have the 'normal' shepherd coloring with some beautiful spots thrown in! As you can see, Apple has some grey/white spots on her face, head, and back making her one of the most unique puppies ever. Apple is a sweet pup. She loves to play with her siblings and the fosters other dogs. She was abandoned with her mom and 3 sisters when she was only 4 weeks old. She has been thriving in her foster home ever since, and is finally ready ... (Read More)to find her forever home. A home with someone who has lots of time to spend with her would be ideal, she is just a puppy and socialization at this age is key to raising a well behaved, confident pup. She is already doing so well. She loves to meet new people and say hi to everybody. She is a snuggle bug with lots of love to give, and now just needs a forever family to give it to! If you are interested in adopting Apple, please fill out our application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-19-00244Lola (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I've rewritten Lola's bio based on her stellar behavior the past couple of days: Stella is a 2 y/o, 16# mini Aussie/Corgi blend who loves people and other dogs. She is completely potty trained and has lovely leash manners. She displays herding behaviors with other dogs but is very focused on her person. She is slightly leash and barrier reactive but is easily redirected with high value treats. She hasn't displayed any interest in kitty. Lola absolutely does NOT like kids. No children under 16 y/o for Lola. She would like a fenced in yard and someone who will teach her fun things and continue with her training. Lola is a very delightful ... (Read More)little dog. Please complete an application at https://www.lowridersofthewest.org/adoption-application.html if interested in meeting Lola. She's being fostered in Littleton, CO and we'd like to adopt her locally. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-12-00057Moss (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When a shelter volunteer first met Moss, she was struck first by his cuteness..and then his amazing blue-green eyes..how could you not be? His curious and very affectionate personality (so typical of a happy and well-socialized puppy) became the entertainment of the day at the shelter. Moss was so silly and cute that you just had to periodically hug him. As hope seemed to fade away for Moss, Farfel's got a message that this beautiful puppy was very urgent and close to euthanasia for space. Through the love and immediate action of rescuers in Texas, Moss's life was saved at the very last second. From that minute forth, he has been nothing ... (Read More)but a delight for his foster, her 12 year old twins and their 2 dogs! Moss is so super-smart (very indicative of his breed mix) and has so much love to give that he's fit into his foster home perfectly. Moss has been identified by the Texas shelter and local vet as a 7 month old, 28 lb Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog puppy (anticipated to be approximately 32 - 35 lbs when full-grown). We can't guarantee that this is Moss's mix but we can't really see other breeds in this very beautiful and engaging puppy. We are searching for a very loving, dog-crazy home for this great dog. As he learns his skills in a positive and respectful environment, Moss will develop a very strong bond with his family. We feel strongly that Moss would be overjoyed in a situation where his people are present...it can be a retired couple or individual who has the energy and patience for a young pup. Or a younger family that works part-time or from the home with older dog-crazy children would be great as well. Moss is an excellent candidate for positive reinforcement group training class...this will mold him into a well-behaved and bonded adult companion. It will also result in a dog that respects his people as his leaders. Moss will learn skills through training that promote good behavior and peaceful relationships with humans and dogs. It's also very important that Moss is given mental stimulation and lots of exercise. It's never too early for a puppy to start learning leash manners on the incredible trails of Colorado....these behavioral skills will develop Moss into a fit and very loyal companion. We've requested that Moss be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Moss's neutering and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Once Moss's sad shelter hair grows out, he will have the gorgeous and cottony-soft coat consistent with his breed mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy, super-soft and matt free. Moss will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/20/18. If interested in this beautiful, fun-loving and very sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Moss, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-22-00161Ollie (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Ollie. A wonderful Australian Shepard in every way. We just completed e-collar training. The reason for the need to re-home him is he is NOT warming up to the cat even after training or I would LOVE to be able to keep him. Ollie is 'Aussie' in every way. He is literally my Velcro dog. He does well off leash and with most commands. He is neutered, UTD on shots. He is a big Aussie weighing in at 56lbs and strong. I adopted him from the H.S. Nov 4, 2017. The Humane Society guessed his age at 6yrs old. He is house trained and doesn't chew. Rarely barks. He is love starved so he likes his attention. He is calm. He is good with ... (Read More)most dogs. The ideal home will have NO cats or small animals as well as no small kids. An Active, outdoorsy home with a lot of walks/hikes, a Fenced yard would be ideal. Another dog could be fine they just have to meet to see if they get along. He is a LOT of dog so probably not a great first dog for a first timer. Someone who knows and understands Aussie would be ideal. There will be a re-homing fee and I will be fussy and will want to see the environment he will live in. So prefer local. I will not ship him. LOVE hiking/walking with him. He is amazing and will make someone a fantastic family member'|.. There will be a re-homing fee. Your choice if you want to carry on with local e-collar training. call or text if you want to meet or learn more about Ollie. Robin @ 719-649-0121 located in Colorado Springs. (Less)

Lucy is a sweet and super smart girl. She's a perfect companion dog. She doesn't bark or chew or make a mess. She learns new words all the time and aims to please. She likes walks and loves to chase a stick, but she doesn't need much activity. What she really needs is to be with you all day. She's alert but calm when she's by your side. She'll thrive in a home with no children and no other pets. We got Lucy 5 years ago when we worked from home. She thrived being around us all day, quietly watching us and happy to go for a walk or move from room to room. Our jobs have changed and now she's alone all day.     Meet sweet loving Hannah 2 - she is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Hound? blend who weighs about 26 lbs. She found herself on death row in TX after her owners returned her to the shelter where they adopted her as a puppy. She is a little lovebug who would love to find a family with a backyard and plenty of room to run. Hannah 2 is a sweet natured girl who loves being near her humans, is dog and kid friendly and is a little fearful of cats. She's a little shy at first and would do well with a friendly canine companion to help her settle in. Hannah 2 is spayed, chipped and up to date on all her vaccinations. PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Shepherd in Colorado
Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
