Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Glady's is a 10 year old Australian Shepherd mix. Gladys is an older gal (10 years old), but you wouldn't know it from her spunky personality! She loves to go for walks, play fetch, and chase frisbees. Once the active fun is done, she will snooze at your feet or snuggle with you on the couch. She would like to be the only dog in her home, but would likely be fine with a confident cat. She's also mostly a fan of adults, but may do well with high school aged kids in the home. Gladys's adoption comes with FREE TRAINING FOR LIFE! We love this sweet girl and will support her - and you! - in her new home. Glady's adoption fee is $100. ... Alexei is getting super excited about life in Colorado. We've been telling him all about what mountain life has to offer! He is excited to hit the trails and hopes to find his forever people soon so he can explore with them. Alexei is good with other dogs and likes people. We think he is 1-2 years old. He will need some training on a leash as it doesn't seem like anyone ever took him on leashed walks. If you're interested in spending forever with this handsome fella please email us at ... Rescue Me ID: 17-03-12-00106Astro (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Astro's rescuer received the call that there was a dog wandering the streets of her neighborhood of Houston, she wanted to help. It definitely made a difference that this poor guy was as sweet as can be and just as adorable. After meeting Astro ( his kind energy was immediately apparent)...Farfel's got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Mini Australian Shepherd/Spaniel mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Astro became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a wonderful future. At just 3 ... (Read More)- 3.5 years old and 20 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Astro to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Astro and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his successes! Astro gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a mix of the very popular (and sadly opportunistically bred) Mini Australian Shepherd with a bit of Spaniel.. but we would never want to swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Astro turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Astro's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. It's not unusual to see a sensitive guy like Astro with dermatitis after the stress of being homeless on the streets. This skin condition comes about from anxiety and filth. Astro will be held in a Texas foster home prior to his transport to Colorado. He will be provided with great nutrition, medicated salves/baths, antibiotics and tons of love and nurturing. This condition heals quickly with these appropriate medications and a clean/nurturing environment. Farfel's Rescue is searching for either active retirees or a family that chooses to spend lots of time with their pup. Retirees tend to make their dogs true family members while being open to them coming along in their daily lives. Astro would thrive on the time and attention of this type of lifestyle. A family with dog-crazy kids would also be great. Astro would love nothing more than to come along for baseball practice and fun activities. Once bonded, Astro will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Astro would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. It is Astro's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Astro has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Astro as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Astro will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 3/24/17. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00226Lucca-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Kansas rescuers in saving Lucca. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and engaging that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Lucca is such a sweet and endearing spirit who cuddles against you for love and security..but wait just a minute for puppy energy..so much fun . Lucca was immediately brought to be vetted and then to to the home of his rescuer to ... (Read More)receive pure love and begin his education. Lucca is just 10 weeks old and weighs 9 lbs (expected to be approximately 45 - 55 lbs when full-grown.) He is calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuers. Lucca is very cute and so silly with a mind of his own. His rescuers have said that they haven't turned on the TV since Lucca came to the shelter...he's so entertaining. He's also like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Lucca continues this regiment of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...he will become a well-adjusted and well-behaved adult companion. Lucca has been identified by the shelter vets as a beautiful and sweet Bernese/Border Collie mix puppy. Lucca has the cutest antics ever!. His puppyish and silly demeanor is just who he is. Lucca just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly puppy. We feel strongly that Lucca should attend puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. We'll need a commitment from Lucca's adopters that they'll give Lucca the behavioral guidance that these classes provide. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved trainers in different areas of Colorado. We also feel it's very important that Lucca is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with a future of walking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family that spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Lucca can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. Lucca can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Lucca won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kanas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Lucca's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Lucca will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/14/17. If interested in this very sweet puppy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Ella is a sweet dog.She is smart, playful, and loving. The reason we have chosen to re-home her is that I think she has just reached her limit with us as she has finally resorted to pottying in the house - a behavior she didn't even do as a puppy - ever! There is no medical reason for this (she has been checked by a vet). She has a mild regurgitation problem that has been resolved by feeding her choice kibble (it is NOT mega-esophagus). She is great with kids, but has mild people aggression towards adult strangers. If the stranger completely ignores her (the best strategy), she will sniff around them and then move on when she learns they do ... (Read More)not pose a threat. She has recently become aggressive towards dogs she doesn't know. She does not do well off leash as she is a runner - especially in high energy situations (a rabbit to chase, a stranger, or an unknown dog). Her come command is very weak. She will not listen to you in these high energy moments! And she takes advantage of off leash moments by running off. She lives peacefully with our three cats, and even tries to engage them in play (but you know how cats are). We love her, but feel that maybe we are not the best family for her. We live on a horse boarding ranch with lots of people and dogs coming and going. I feel that is just too much stimulation for her. We want a loving forever home for her. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Brady is a sweet, lovable puppy we adopted from the Denver Dumb Friend's League. The owners of the house changed their minds about allowing dogs and are forcing us to get rid of him. We have two toddlers he has been great with but our nanny also said she cannot handle all three of them so we are left with no other choice. Brady has been to the vet twice to get rid of an ear infection and a rash and we have medication for him along with food, toys, dog beds, etc. Brady deserves a wonderful home and will make a great family dog for someone that has a lot of love and energy to give.

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] 5 year old female Aussie/Shiba mix. Very friendly and mellow dog. LOVES other dogs and likes to be next to you in the house. Great personality, really funny dog and well behaved. House broken and kennel trained. Sadly we are looking for a new home for her (and her sister Murphy) because of her siezures. I previously worked from home and was able to be with her all the time but my work situation has changed, I travel alot for work now and when I am working locally the dogs are home alone at least 10 hours a day. We are worried that she will have a bad siezure and hurt herself with no one home to help. We ... PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Shepherd in Colorado
Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
