Rescue Me ID: 14-10-28-00471Lucy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy is a sweet little Aussie/Cattle mix who has found herself in a tough spot. Her parents contacted us last week looking for help re-homing Lucy after she nipped at the neighbor through their wrought iron fence. The incident occurred while the neighbor was shaking hands with Lucy's father and they think that's why she may have nipped him. She didn't draw blood or break the skin either. Lucy's parents say this is her only instance of this behavior but the neighbor wants her gone and they fear for her safety. Her parents say she tends to get nervous around large groups of people and herds them back into the room so a less active ... (Read More)household would probably be most conducive to Lucy's well being. Lucy loves other dogs and children, but she doesn't like a whole lot of strangers! Lucy is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and heart worm negative. She has also undergone extensive obedience training in the past and would make a great addition to the right family. Lucy's current owners are willing to pay ALL adoption expenses for Lucy's rehoming, so please find it in your heart to give her the 2nd chance she deserves! From her Mom: 'We have a mini Australian Shephard, Blue Heeler mix named Lucy. Lucy will be 4 years old on February 3, 2015. Lucy is a great family dog. She interacts well with most dogs. We have a yellow lab that is 7 yrs. old and they are best friends. Lucy is nervous. She likes to 'herd' some people but most people she loves. Unfortunately, she bit our neighbor, through our wrought iron fence. Our neighbor was talking to my husband when she lunged through the fence and bit his thigh. She did not make him bleed but bit through his short and punctured the skin with her tooth. No blood, just bruising. Lucy is a GREAT dog. She has been with us since she was 8 weeks old. She has always been nervous when people come to the door but we have been able to watch her and put her 'away' in a room when they arrive. Once they are in our home she is fine with visitors. She is very loving, well trained, and will truly be missed but we can't have her at our home because she has bit our neighbor. She does well with other dogs but not cats! She would be a great dog for an older couple who doesn't have a lot of visitors. She has never bitten a child. She is just nervous around a few people but you just don't know who the people are that are going to make her upset. We live on a beach with an open wrought iron fence. I think all the people, all the time, makes Lucy nervous. A home with a fence you can't see through might be great too. OR a farm where she can herd sheep or cattle. She doesn't wander, if she gets out she comes right home. She truly is a wonderful dog and we are heartbroken that we have to find her a new home. We LOVE her!' Our adoption process begins with you meeting Lucy. Feel free to schedule a play date with her and your existing dog(s). After you fill out an application, we will verify your references and do a brief home inspection. If all goes well, we will deliver Lucy to you for a small adoption fee. You will also have the option to purchase a large wire kennel for an additional fee. We then ask that you sign our adoption contract. We will do a follow-up visit approximately two weeks to one month after the adoption to insure that Lucy is adjusting well to her new home and that she is happy and healthy. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-24-00530SHEP (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Shep is a purebred 5 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd. He was owner released because he is not good around small children, and the family that owned him has a 2 year old child and is expecting another child in the spring. Shep has very typical behavior for an Australian Shepherd. He generally does well with other dogs when in neutral territory when there is not anyone or anything he feels the need to 'guard.' He has been raised with another dog (a German Shorthair Pointer) and has always been a good companion to him. He is a very good dog with adult humans, and with kids in their teenage years. He is not good around small children, ... (Read More)and he will need a family where any resident children are at least middle school age. He is loving, playful, and very affectionate. He loves a belly rub and can play fetch for hours. He has been trained to sit, lay down, 'settle,' and shake. He learned those commands easily, and he has been introduced to some agility equipment, which he really enjoys. He is in exceptional health. He has no known health problems, and is still a very active, high energy, dog who needs lots of exercise. He will need a yard, daily walks, and some off leash time to run freely. He would make an excellent trail hiking dog or running partner. He is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Nauru is a wonderful dog and I have had her a little over 5 of her 6 years. She is fully trained and SUPER smart. Dont let her age fool you, she has not slowed down since she was a puppy and still continues to learn new tricks on a regular basis. I am moving out of the country some time next year and need to find the perfect home for my baby girl. She is very special and needs a special human to meet her active needs. Lots of land would be ideal. Nauru knows all her basic commands by voice and hand. She needs lots of cuddling time as well as activities during the day. She has the potential to be good with children and cats with a consistant ... (Read More)home. Toddlers do scare her and she has lunged at a toddler before. This is to be kept in mind. The toddler was not hurt, a small nip and a good lesson. She is the best dog in the world! I would like to be able to spend some time with that special person or family that wants to adopt my baby girl, make sure its a suitable match. If you are interested please contact me. Let work something out. She is the best little addition that the right person could ask for. Oh and she is about 40 pounds, the perfect size :) Treeshavetrunks@hotmail.com (Less)

Hi, We are Radar and Sydney! If you are looking to add a pair of delightful pre-loved doggies to your life, we would love to meet you. We are being rehomed by our owners because of severe dog allergies that have developed in the kids in our home. We are a male and female, healthy, neutered and spayed, and up to date on our shots. We are both very well behaved and get along with other dogs famously. Cats are probably not a good match for us.
