Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Carmel Australian Shepherd Female 11 months old 42.5 lbs. Do you remember your best day ever? I remember mine because it's today! Ever since the amazing folks at PawsCo rescued me from a shelter, each new day is my best day yet. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love life in a loving home with my incredible foster family. I have a warm bed just for me (although my favorite spot to sleep is on the floor right next to my foster mom's bed) and so many amazing toys and treats all to myself. My very favorite things, though, are the incredible snuggles, belly rubs, and puppy kisses that come from my fabulous foster family. As a young ... (Read More)pup, I would love to find a forever family with the time and patience to help me grow into a terrific adult canine. I am working so very hard to find the bathroom and remember which toys are mine and which belong to the people. Australian Shepherds are known for being oh so smart, and I promise that I am no exception. My natural intelligence combined with my eagerness to please my people make me a perfect candidate to be the smartest dog you have ever met! Speaking of smart dogs, I get along fabulously with the ones in my foster home. I miss my siblings in the shelter so much and would love a puppy playmate in a new home. While I have yet to encounter cats or kids, my foster mom thinks that I would be the ultimate family dog as I excel at giving the gentlest of puppy kisses, and also at rolling over so that kids and adults alike can rub my belly. Yup, each day is better than the last and I know that my absolute best day ever will be when I go home with an incredible forever family of my own. To add a little joy to your days, just e-mail my pals at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application on the website. I cannot wait to live each day to the fullest with you! (Less)

Animal ID: 642Blanca (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Blanca Aussie mix Female 3.5 years old 60 lbs. Do your feet get chilly while you're writing those long emails from the home office? Maybe your couch cushions are just not toasty enough when you come back from making popcorn on a weekend Netflix binge? I'm Blanca, and I think I have the solution to your problems! I'm a cuddly young lady from Alamosa and I'm a family dog through-and-through. When my human passed away unexpectedly, I found myself looking for a new family to keep toasty warm and laughing - those are of course my best skills. I'm deaf, but it sure doesn't slow me down, especially when I can bond with other four-legged family ... (Read More)and become part of the pack. There aren't a lot of must-haves on the list for my new home, but a sweet dog sibling (or two, or more!) would really make the transition smooth to my new forever home. If you've got kiddos who I can entertain, even better! You'd be surprised at how attuned dogs can be who don't have the benefit of hearing. I've become really perceptive using my other skills - sniffs, keen eyes, and I can tell you for sure that I pick up your vibes. Once I get to know you, I'll learn what it sounds like when you're happy with me, even if I can't hear you calling me in from the yard. Let me lie on your chest and 'hear' you talking sweetly to me by feeling your voice vibrate and you'll know what it is to really feel my trust and love. At the top of my skill list: snuggles, cuddles, co-napping, sneaking onto the bed for AM smooches, leash walks, and squeaky toys. From that list, you can see - I'm a lover and I like to be close to my humans as much as possible. I can deal with being home alone (or hopefully with my fellow four-legged family) but I'm happiest when I know you're close by. A home with patient humans - including kiddos who I adore - willing to take some time to learn what works for me will be rewarded with my loyalty, love, and big wet smooches for a lifetime. Want to give each other a try? Let's make a date for some ear scratches! Email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org to ask about my schedule, or head over to the adoption application if you think we might be a match made in heaven. See you soon, sweeties! (Less)

Please contact foster mom Kaytie in regards to this puppy: (307) 797-2457. Kaytie.Christopherson@colostate.edu This is Ruger. He is about 13 weeks old and looks like he is an Australian Shepherd puppy. We are unsure if he is purebred or not. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-07-00281Rowdy (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Abused/Neglected

Rowdy is approximately 1 year old. Super smart loving obedient, not too potty trained and chews a lot. We rescued him because he was tied to a tree super skinny and shivering. He is such a good boy and tries so hard to be a good boy and crawl in your skin to be cuddled, such a lover. We have no fence, however he does stay. I live in a snobby neighborhood and god for bid your dog isn't contained. He has been chewing our garage and my husband is having a fit. He said I could keep him if I caged him. I would rather find him a good home than have to pen him. It breaks my heart to see him go, but I am thinking of Rowdy's happiness. If you can ... (Read More)give him the best please contact me. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-27-00652Nauru (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Nauru is a wonderful dog and I have had her a little over 5 of her 6 years. She is fully trained and SUPER smart. Dont let her age fool you, she has not slowed down since she was a puppy and still continues to learn new tricks on a regular basis. I am moving out of the country some time next year and need to find the perfect home for my baby girl. She is very special and needs a special human to meet her active needs. Lots of land would be ideal. Nauru knows all her basic commands by voice and hand. She needs lots of cuddling time as well as activities during the day. She has the potential to be good with children and cats with a consistant ... (Read More)home. Toddlers do scare her and she has lunged at a toddler before. This is to be kept in mind. The toddler was not hurt, a small nip and a good lesson. She is the best dog in the world! I would like to be able to spend some time with that special person or family that wants to adopt my baby girl, make sure its a suitable match. If you are interested please contact me. Let work something out. She is the best little addition that the right person could ask for. Oh and she is about 40 pounds, the perfect size :) Treeshavetrunks@hotmail.com (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Shepherd in Colorado
Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. Australian Shepherds are gentle with humans and aggressive when herding farm animals. Aussies are active even when indoors and do best with plenty of exercise in a large yard.

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
