Rescue Me ID: 17-01-11-00281Alex (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Alex, at just 11 weeks old and 4 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 30 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament..they rescued Alex just in time. Alex is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ... (Read More)ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous cream-colored coat with shades of pure white. Alex is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and engaging...very typical of the cross of a Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie. Alex is bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Alex is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Alex will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. We're open to Alex finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Alex loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun. Kids can also be a part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's great future behavior. Alex will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that Alex be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Alex's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Alex will be transported to Boulder on Friday 2/3/17. If interested in this loving and devoted best friend please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-02-00202Pippin-PENDING! (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Pippin is a very beautiful purebred miniature Australian Shepherd. She is so sweet in temperament, kind and wanting to please...always trying so hard to be just like the other dogs. Pippin gets along so well because she's been deaf from birth and has no idea what a hearing life would be like. It was our pleasure to save the precious life of this special pup! You can imagine the confusion for Pippin of being in a chaotic shelter when you're deaf and unclear as to what has brought you to such a scary environment! Pippin is the victim of a breeding program that is completely uncaring of the best interests of the puppies they're ... (Read More)producing. Miniature Aussies are extremely popular and therefore bred for the dollars that they bring in. One thing we know for sure is that 18 - 24 month old, 13 lb Pippin is so sweet and so wanting to please that she will bring a gift to a special family. Sometimes she gets frightened if she is unaware that someone is approaching her...with love and understanding, Pippin will continue to acclimate to a non-hearing life. There are wonderful training programs that target deaf dogs by using hand signals and special techniques geared specifically to these wonderful and wise dog's challenges. They can bring great insight to their families as they observe the resilience and positive attitudes that these dogs possess. Once Farfel's spoke up for her, Pippin was brought to be temperament tested and vetted (she passed both with flying colors!) and then on to the home of her rescuer to be gently reminded of house skills and to be loved on and socialized in a positive way. Pippin has blossomed ...loving every second with her rescuer's family. The following is the latest report on our wonderful Pippin -- My family has had a great time enjoying the positive energy and resilience of this gorgeous dog! She has quickly become my partner and dear friend. One of the best parts about being out and about with Pippin is her engaging approach to everyone..as long as she realizes that you've arrived. I don't need to be stressed in any way when another dog or children walk toward us ...she's kind with everyone and learning that I have her back and would never let harm come to her. I often forget that Pippin is deaf...after a bit of time with me, she has come to behave just like all my other dogs. I find myself using hand signals with Pippin and she seems to be learning more each day. I also touch and pet her more as a guide to what I'm asking of her. I've grown very attached to Pippin...most likely her deafness plays a role...but really she's just an absolutely incredible companion for my entire family. When everyone is at home at the end of the day...Pippin is Snuggler #1! She's so happy to lie quietly at our feet or better yet..tucked between the humans on the couch. Pippin is meant to be a full-time lover with a family who enjoys her calm and very loyal demeanor. We're all so excited that Pippin is headed to Colorado..her joy at wandering the beautiful trails with her favorite humans will know no bounds! The family who is lucky enough to have Pippin join their family forever is truly getting a gem. I feel like I can say with honesty that there are few better than Pippin! We've requested that Pippin be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Pippin's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Pippin will be transported to Boulder on Thursday 12/14/17. If interested in a devoted best friend and love bug , please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Hiya! Shiloh here! I am searching for a home. Yano, a forever one. I was rescued from New Mexico. My siblings and I were wandering the streets aimlessly when an animal control guy picked us up. The people at Sunshine saw me and knew we belonged in Colorado! I am a really smart puppy who likes to hang in my crate, its kindof my safe spot. I can be a little timid at first but after a day or two I'm loyal as ever! I am playful and like to play tug of war. I would really like another dog in the house but its not necessary if you promise to socialize me! I want to go to puppy classes and the dog park when I'm totally vaccinated. I will make a ... (Read More)great hiking companion and eventually will be great off leash. I already follow my foster mom around the house. Sitting and watching, waiting for whatever she wants to do next! Everything is new, how can I not be excited? If you're interested in spending the rest of forever together email my rescuers, like now, at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com. Puppy kisses, Shiloh (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-26-00190Milo (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Milo's mom was found as a stray in TX. We immediately found her a foster so she wouldn't have to give birth in the cold, scary shelter. Just two days later Josie (can also be seen on our adoptable dogs page) gave birth to 4 beautiful male puppies. None of Josie's little boys look anything like her. They were already half her size at just 3 weeks old. It's very clear that the dad of these pups was A LOT bigger than Josie. We believe they will be around 30lbs (maybe a little more or little less) when full grown. They have beautiful wavy coats with the coloring and texture of a border collie or some other kind of collie. It's important ... (Read More)to remember that these boys are mutts, and even though we can make our best educated guess, it's still truly only a guess. Each pup is already showing their own personality. Milo like to play fight with his siblings. He is sweet but seems timid sometimes when you first pick him up. He gets better every day but will need a sweet, nurturing family to show him how amazing love is. Milo is the mama's boy of the bunch. He loves to follow is mom around everywhere and it's obvious he finds security with her. Milo would do great with another dog to show him around, but would also do just fine without one. Since Milo is timid, it will be very important for his family to socialize him. A personality like Milo's can turn into the most amazing personality in a pup as long as they are trained and socialized correctly. Milo and his brothers are officially searching for their forever home! If you are interested in adopting Milo or one of his brothers, please email us for an application at brighterdaysdogrescue@gmail.com You can also follow us on FB to get sneak peaks of dogs that will be up for adoption once fully vetted. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] 5 year old female Aussie/Shiba mix. Very friendly and mellow dog. LOVES other dogs and likes to be next to you in the house. Great personality, really funny dog and well behaved. House broken and kennel trained. Sadly we are looking for a new home for her (and her sister Murphy) because of her siezures. I previously worked from home and was able to be with her all the time but my work situation has changed, I travel alot for work now and when I am working locally the dogs are home alone at least 10 hours a day. We are worried that she will have a bad siezure and hurt herself with no one home to help. We ... (Read More)are looking for someone that can be with them more often as they both really like to be with people as much as possible. We are only interested in adopting her out with our other dog as they have been together almost their whole lives and really are best buds!! Our other dog, Murphy is a 4 year old female Golden Retriever/Boxer mix that is also spayed/house broken/kennel trained and current on all vaccines with no health issues. Seriously the most affectionate and loving dog, all she wants is for a human to pet her! Please contact me if you are interested in giving them both a loving home, and I can provide additional pics/info for both dogs. (Less)

Jasper is a sweetheart. He loves cuddling on the couch and would like to find someone who can take him for short walks before returning to a soft, warm home. Jasper has some trauma in his past and can scare at unusual things but he has no aggression issues at all. He doesn't bark or chew and is fully house trained. He would prefer to have a yard but an apartment would work with regular walks.
