Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pepper (aka Marbles) has come into rescue by no fault of her own. She is a pure bred Blue Merle Aussie Shepherd with ice blue eyes. Never abused. Never neglected. ... Always loved and cared for. This is just one of those situations where her owner has fallen on hard times and the correct choice was to give her up for a better life. She is fostering here with a male Pit Bull and multiple Mastiffs She is very dog and people social. Beyond friendly and sweet. Pepper is 100% deaf in both ears. She is house broken, knows how you use the doggie door and knows most of her commands. She is shaved down now for easier maintenance, but has a beautiful ... (Read More)bright white coat. Pepper will is spayed, microchipped, and all her vaccines have ben brought current. we are only placing Peoper in a home with another dog. If placed as an only dog we will require that you've owned a deaf dog before. It's not a must. But I'd like to see her in an experienced Aussie home with one or two others. Whoever ends up with this girl is going to score. She is sweet as can be. And for obvious reasons sleeps like a rock. A guard dog she is not. Although Pepper is not a mini Aussie. She is very small for the breed. Maybe just 40 lbs. she is very petit. And she has the cutest nose ever. Please tell us a little about your current living situation, lifestyle, activity level, other dog, pets, kids in the house, etc..... Thank you (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-22-00336Mylo (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mylo is a VERY sweet 3 1/2 - 4 year old Aussie/spaniel mix whom I rescued 3 years ago. He has lived with 2 cats and though he always shows interest in them, he is never aggressive toward them. He is neutered. He has all his vaccinations. He is leash trained and I can take him off of the leash at the dog beach/dog parks. He socializes well with other dogs but does not actually play with other dogs much. He does have food possession issues. I can not bring food to the dog beach or park (for MYSELF) because then he will show aggression. He will do this at home too, and this is his only negative characteristic. When I have guests over, ... (Read More)and there is food out, he will act possessively. He will sometimes do this with certain toys. He won't do it to me but does with others. He knows basic commands and he shakes hands, gives high-fives, and comes when called. He normally sleeps inside, near the bed. He has very unique markings and always gets attention from people. I can tie him outside of a store or restaurant while I go in, and he does just fine. He is micro-chipped. Besides the food/toy possession issues, he is a wonderful dog. Please contact me for any further questions. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00031Sienna (female)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

COURTESY POST: This is Sienna, also affectionately known as Bear Bear. She turns 12 in April. Purebred Australian Shepherd (not registered). She's a wonderful, sweet, well behaved dog (a little bossy at times, as Aussie's can be), but does have some issues. I know she needs a tooth pulled (I was quoted about $600 for the procedure- maybe a different vet would be less), and she's started having some incontinence issues but is currently being treated for a UTI, and has not had any accidents in a couple weeks. She does need to be encouraged to go outside frequently, and needs to go out last thing at night and first thing in the morning. She has ... (Read More)hip dysplasia (hips are splayed outward a bit- just the way she was born), so while she loves walks, her person needs to keep the time relatively short as she can get a little sore and worn out. She is a little slow on stairs and cannot get into a vehicle by herself (but she loves car rides!). She also has a severe flea allergy, so needs prescription flea meds (Comfortis). She is very attentive and loves being near her person. She will follow her person around the house, and does not like being left alone outside (she will bark to come back in). I adopted her about four years ago and she attached to me very quickly. She is very friendly when meeting new people. She's a real sweetie. I am going through a divorce, and am moving this week. I am not supposed to have her at my new home. I also cannot afford to care for Sienna's needs, as I am frankly struggling to figure out how to support myself and my son at this point. Some folks were suggesting to me it would be kinder to put her down at this point, but I have already spoken to her vet and they won't do it - she is not suffering and she still has a good quality of life. She just needs someone with a kind heart and the financial ability to take her in and provide the care she needs. Contact: morgan@corvidesign.net (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-29-00359Crosby the Auzzie (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Crosby is a 4 year old, 60 pound, Blue Merle, Neutered, male Australian Sheppard. If you have room in your heart and home, please fill out our application form here: http://petprosservices.com/adopt/ There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. Call Mark toll free at 888-9-PETS4U if you have any questions. Up to date on vaccinations? Yes Does this pet get along with cats? No Does this pet get along with dogs? Unknown Does Your Pet Have Any Health Problems? No Please Describe Your Pet's Personality Crosby has an incredibly lively personality! He would love nothing more than to just follow you around all day. He has a ton of energy and ... (Read More)doesn't like to spend much time napping. He loves to be outdoors - running, playing fetch, hiking, and especially swimming. Crosby is also incredibly smart and seems to have great intuition. He knows plenty of commands - sit, stay, come, heel, down, shake (with either paw), place, jump, and stay at a long distance. He can learn new commands very quickly, usually after 30-40 repetitions. Crosby can also be very skittish around new things, new dogs, and strangers. It seems that this behavior is elevated when he is around me, as I have been told it pretty much goes away when I'm not around. However, he does not do well with other dogs when I take him on walks. When I bring him to a dog boarding ranch when I go out of town, I'm told he does great with other dogs and people. He has bitten new people that come into my house, though he has never drawn blood. It seems to be more fear aggression than outright aggression. What is your home environment like? I live by myself in a small two bedroom house with a small backyard. Admittedly there isn't much space, and I think Crosby would do great with more space. I also unfortunately have to spend a lot of time at work and traveling. I would love for Crosby to find a home where he can get more attention and activity, perhaps even somewhere with a large yard or ranch where he can be a helpful hand outside - he would love this! Please Tell Us A Little About Your Family: Just me! What are your pet's favorite toys, foods, activities? Crosby loves to play with all kinds of squeaky toys, balls, frisbees, rope toys, and bones. He mostly loves to play fetch with his toys. If possible, please tell us a funny, cute or heartwarming story about your pet. I had been looking for ways to get Crosby more exercise that would specifically wear him out mentally. I came across dog treadmills online, and thought it would be not just great exercise but also something for him to really concentrate on. I ended up getting one, and he's now an expert at running on a treadmill! For What Reason(s) are you needing to rehome your pet? I am going to be moving and starting a new job that will require 50-75% travel. Because I live alone, it will be extremely difficult for me to take care of Crosby. Please describe what you are looking for in an adoptive family/home for your pet: I am looking for a home where Crosby can get all of the love, attention, and activity he deserves. The more stimulation Crosby can get, the better he will do. He definitely wants to be a work dog, but I haven't been able to provide that for him. He would do amazing in a home where he could get lots of exercise and follow someone around outside a lot. What supplies and accessories will come with your pet? Toys, a big bag of his food, and his dog treadmill if the new owner wants it Do you hope or intend to stay in touch with your pet in it's new home? Yes (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sadie is a sweet 7-year-old Australian Shepherd Collie mix. We adopted her when she was 3 months old from a kill shelter. Sadie has all of her shots, is microchipped, and would be a great adult only household pet. She is a herding dog (Sadie follows commands including sit, stay, down, shake, go to bed, is potty trained, etc.), loves to run and hike, enjoys being outside frequently, playful, and is very loving to people. She went through obedience training, was socialized, but is highly alert by nature, and is afraid of fast moving children. She would be a fantastic 'adults only' pet. She is a great companion that loves to be by your side.

The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
