Rescue Me ID: 17-05-18-00106MAISEY (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maisey, 6 years old, is a beautiful, loving, loyal, gentle family dog. She knows how to sit and mostly just LOVES to be near her people all the time. She is in excellent health, current on all vaccinations, microchipped, and had a recent dental visit. She loves most types of animals, has always lived with cats, and is frequently socialized with other dogs. She is half Golden Retriever and half Australian Shepherd... as such, she is often pacing and trying to herd. She especially needs to protect and keep track of all the members of the family... even the other pets. Maisey is quite anxious and needs a very special family to help ... (Read More)her with this. She sometimes has leash aggression around other dogs, barks whenever strangers are near, and has several quirks (she is uncomfortable around sunglasses, hats, humans carrying large objects. etc..) She would do best with a family who can often be home with her. Even better if she could bond with another dog/animal that could be an alpha and a regular companion to her. Owner is recovering from a life-threatening illness. Family has had major lifestyle changes and challenges that sometimes require Maisey to be alone for long periods of time, to spend long stretches in a dog care facility, or alternately, require unhealthy stress on owner to meet her basic needs several days a week. We are looking for a very special, committed family that could provide an excellent home for Maisey that best suits her needs. *courtesy post* (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet ESPERANZA (AVAILABLE SOON!) | SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ONLY | EMAIL: ADOPTIONS@WAGGINGDOG.ORG ---) Ohhh Esperanza! This incredible, perfect dog came from a sad life with poor people who couldn't afford to provide for her. She was never spayed and had litter after litter, and that much work took its toll on her body. Not her spirit though! This gem of a dog is a perfect pet - well mannered, easy going, mellow. She's lucky she landed one of our most skilled foster homes so she could have the medical care needed to get her health back on track. We're still working through it all with our vets and specialists, so Esperanza's not quite ... (Read More)ready for her future family yet but she's set paw on the right path towards that dream. Espie's a perfect size gal but rather thin right now. We're working to pad her 41 pound frame as she should probably be another 7 or 8 pounds heavier. She has the most gorgeous sable and honey colored fur coat that just shimmers after a bath. Her coat is thin in many places though and we're working with our dermatologist to make it full once again. We think Esperanza's around 7 or 8 years young, and she enjoys a foster home with several other dogs and a half dozen chickens. We know she wouldn't mind companion animals in her future home, but we also know she'd be perfectly fine as the only star in someone's eye. She really just lives for people, content to be your quiet shadow if you'll let her. Stay tuned as we progress through Esperanza's medical treatment, and keep an eye out for news that she's finally ready to meet her future family! ---) TO VIEW ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AND PUP-DATES ON ESPERANZA, PLEASE VISIT HER ON FACEBOOK AT: https://www.facebook.com/pg/waggingdogrescue/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1502272253130604 (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Pasta! Pasta is about 1 year old, and we believe she is a small Shepard mix, but your guess is as good as ours! Pasta currently has a broken front leg from getting hit by a car, but should be healed and back to normal in about 3 weeks. A good samaritan saw her get hit by the car in Baja, and was kind enough to take her to the vet and help nurse her back to health. In addition to having a broken leg, she was also covered in ticks! Needless to say, she has had a pretty rough start to life. Pasta loves to play with her toys, and play with dogs that are similar in size to her. She loves to follow her human around and just be close to you. ... (Read More)Pasta is a very sweet and gentle pup with a heart of gold! She is pretty shy at first, and takes some time to warm up, but is well worth the effort! Pasta is a bit nervous around small children, so she would do best in home with no children, or older children. She is cat friendly, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, almost fully house trained, and ready for her forever home! Her adoption fee is $250. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Josie is about a year old. We are guessing she is a cattle dog mix. She's crate trained and obedience trained by d911topdog.com. She is terrific with other dogs, cats that are dog savvy and kids. Josie was living her life in the fields of Palmdale. She was basically feral. She didn't know human interaction and was like swordfish fighting a fishing line on a leash. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello I am looking for some help with re-locating/finding a new family for my dog, Waco. He is 5 years old and will be 6 this summer. We rescued him from a shelter in summer of 2011 in Waco, Texas when he was 6 weeks old. His paperwork says he is an Australian shepherd mix, but as he got older it has always been clear he is a pitt-mix. He is up-to-date on shots and is fixed. He has been a fabulous dog. He is well-behaved, house trained, and loves people. He loves going on runs and being with people. He gets really excited to go to the dog beach or dog park, but in the past few years he has had a harder time with other dogs. I think if ... (Read More)he were to be around them more he would be fine, but since moving to California his time with other dogs has been limited. He can be very protective of the house. The reason we have to find a new home for him is because I am pregnant and we are in the process of doing foster to adopt. Waco does not do well around young children. Any smaller child Waco will growl and bark at aggressively. In October of 2013, Waco bit the 11 year old boy that lives next door. Waco was on a leash in front of the yard. The boy came over to meet Waco and my husband let Waco off the leash to meet the boy. Waco immediately attacked the boy biting him on the face and back. This is the only time Waco has bitten anyone. Although he has shown himself to be very aggressive towards younger children since. He would do very well with a family with older middle school or older children. He would also do great with a single person. We need to find somewhere for Waco to go before May 1. (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chico is listed by us as a courtesy to his current owners/family. They have had a very big change in their housing situation and can no longer provide Chico with the home he deserves. If you are interested in meeting him, please read through to the end to find out how to submit an application and pictures of your yard and fence line. We will forward information from qualified adopters to his owners who will then make arrangements to set up a meeting. His owner writes: This is Chico. He is a 10 year old male miniature Australian Shepard. Chico's birthday is March 5, 2005. He is neutered and chipped. Chico is a very obedient dog and is ... (Read More)trained with basic commands such as sit, stay, come lay down, up and he can jump for you. He is also good on and off leash, he's not going to make a break for it. He loves your basic milky bone and refuses any good quality treats with the exception of greenies. He is easy to please and loves to be outside and explore open spaces. He would be best suited in a house hold with older kids or just a person of his very own. He tolerates other dogs, but will chase any cats. Chico just wants to be loved and have a special person in his life that will fall in love with his quirky personality. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.      I have a few sharpei mixes and my financial situation forces me to downsize as I've already defaulted on my mortgage and need to place some horses (mustangs) and cats as well. Nello is a very intelligent young sharpei crossed with an aussie mother. He's excellent for coyote patrol but goes after smaller varmints like moles, skunks, squirrels and an outdoor cat or two. He's good with my indoor cats however, but I do not trust him with them outside if they run or spat at him. I believe he can be taught to protect as he has the intelligence to train. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
