Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00323Aspen (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Aspen is a 1 yr old Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix. He is very sweet, smart and an all around great dog. He loves to go on walks and hikes. He is great with children and gets along well with other dogs. Although he gets along with male dogs in a group setting, he tends to be a bit more territorial with other males when he is in a home environment. He would do best in a home with another female dog. He is house trained and knows basic commands. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He weighs approx. 32 lbs.

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hershey is a 3 month old male Australian Shepherd mix. He's very sweet but a little shy when he first meets new people.. He has a gentle calm temperament. He loves to play with other dogs, so we would ideally like to see him adopted into a home with another dog. He is microchipped and vaccinated. He weighs approx 10 lbs. Adopter will be required to sign spay/neuter agreement. We do not adopt puppies under 5 months old to homes where they will be left alone for more than 3 hours at a time due to their need for socialization and bathroom breaks. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered

Kahuna, 2 years old, is an active persons dream. He loves to run and fetch the ball. He is affectionate, loving, rides well in the car. Kahuna loves to play with other dogs and has passed several assessments in order to participate in day care/boarding. Kahuna has not really been around cats or children but I fostered two kittens and he was fine with them. *courtesy post*

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Robby is an unusual boy, with a brown merle coat pattern and one blue eye. We think he might be a mini-australian shepherd/chihuahua mix. Whatever the case might be, he is a one of a kind gem. Very sweet, velcro dog, quiet and mellow in demeanor. He's about 11 lbs and 2 years old, gets along great with other dogs, not sure about cats or kids - most likely older children and dog savvy cats would be ok. His adoption fee is $200 and includes all medical. To adopt this little show-stopper, and see a few more pics please fill our our online app at resqac.com

This handsome boy is looking for his forever home. He is super cute (obviously!), super sweet and super smart. He is just over a year old and is deaf, but he does react to certain tones. He knows 'sit' and 'come' and we are working on more. He is very treat motivated and easy to train. He is crate trained, loves car rides and walks and LOVES everyone! He loves to kiss and cuddle and would make the ultimate companion dog. Drax would not do well in a home where his people work all day while he is left alone; he would need a doggie friend to hang with for that to be a successful fit. We can't say anything bad about him; he deserves the absolute ... (Read More)best of everything and we will be very selective about where he goes. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This lovely young girl is Reba. She is a 1 year old Border Collie/Aussie mix who weighs about 50 pounds. She is located near Porterville, CA, which is near Visalia. Reba is a very smart girl and she will learn quickly. At the moment, she knows to come when called and goes to bed when told to go to her kennel. She is also house trained, but will benefit from reinforcement in her new home just so she knows that the rules are the same in her new home. That should be easy, since she is also crate trained. Reba is a friendly gal. She is good with men and with women. She was also raised with a 5 year old kid, so should be good with polite kids. ... (Read More)She is also good with other dogs and likes to play. She does tend to prefer dog pals her size and larger. With a non-pushy small dog she should be fine. Reba is learning about the leash and is already good in the car. So, she will be a wonderful adventure partner. She does love the pool, too. Reba loves chicken and cats too much, meaning she will definitely chase them. So, a home without chickens and cats is needed. That said, she is learning to be good with horses, so a home with horses should be fine. Reba is just a gorgeous gal looking for a home to cherish her. With just a bit of time, she will be an amazing dog. Reba is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is ready for the right home. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

COURTESY POST Meet Lucy, an 8 years old beautiful German Shepherd/ blue healer mixed. Lucy is 'love at the first sight'. Her affection and big light brown eyes will melt your heart away the minute you meet her. This girl is super smart! Lucy was rescued from San Bernadino shelter when she was 8 months old. She stayed at her foster mom for 3 months and she was adopted out to a nice military man with 3 boys. They taught Lucy discipline and manners. She love her family! She would deliver the newspaper to her dad every morning. Lucy's family was in touch with her foster mom for a few years and they eventually lost touch. Mysteriously, after 7 ... (Read More)years, her foster mom got a call that Lucy was at the Chula Vista Shelter. There is was NO sign of her family. Shelter staff thought, Lucy was living in a backyard for the last few years. Her fur was in poor condition. Her foster mom took her and brought her back to health. Lucy is as happy and bright as ever. It is time for Lucy to find her forever home, for the last time. Lucy is housebroken, good on the leash and will sit on command. Unknown with cats but she lives with 2 other dogs. Lucy is mainly an inside dog but needs exercise. Her current weight of 70lbs should be reduced by at least 10lbs. Her ideal new home should be a quiet home with older children. Her current foster is not able to keep her any longer so she is looking for a new home. Lucy is kind and loving, probably the most affectionate dog you will ever meet S (Less)

I rescued Lula in 2013. They came as a package deal, which was more than I expected, but I thought I would try. I love her a lot! She is very, very loving! She still thinks she is a puppy and loves to jump up on my lap and sleep, or lay next to me on the couch. She is very loving. I just tell her 'Out!' so that she goes straight out to the back yard in the morning. Then, she settles down a bit! Lula's fur is perfect! It is long enough to be furry, and short enough to rarely need a shampooing! She readily takes a shower and tolerates shampoo and conditioner with a good rinse. She has never gotten sick. She had her first shots. ... (Read More)She is Spayed. She has rarely gone on a walk. She broke two muzzles. She sits, and lays, on command, for a treat, and readily runs to her cage for a treat... or...directly dives under the bed! I was told that she attacked to the kill, so, I never took the chance of bringing her out! I was afraid she would hurt another dog. She cried to the high heavens if I took her puppy out without her! The neighbors complained! Since then, she and her puppy have separate cages and she has let the puppy not be with her all the time. She has had a good, protected life, and has been fed Canidae ALS since day one. I actually only wanted the her, but, I found out that she and her puppy were a 'package deal' and just took them both! Time flies when you are having fun! I can hardly believe that four years has passed since I took them in! Lula is very protective of me. I broke my leg a couple years back, and that was another reason I could not handle her and her puppy on a walk! So, she has lived inside and has gone only in the back yard. I now operate a Bed and Breakfast with new people coming in and out all day long, and cannot take the chance of Lula being protective of me when a new guest is just trying to come in the door! She needs training, she is very smart! She could be a 'Frisbee' dog with a little bit of influence! Lulabelle is the mother of seven, or nine puppies. Her last right rib is noticeable; I always wondered if when she was pregnant they made some room for her puppies (I do not know for sure). Or, she may have been kicked by a horse, or maybe a man. She is very, very loving, but, she is now a bit jealous of her puppy, Chula! She will growl to let her pup know to back away from me. But, the puppy is coming into her own, and will now growl back, and not back away! I just tell them, 'No! Knock it off!' and they quit...for a moment...then they move away from each other. I tell them 'Off!' if they begin a power struggle in my lap. I am not afraid of them, I am just trying to interrupt their cognitive behavior, so they do not make it a habit. Lulabelle, the mother, I call 'The Chaser of Light!' I have a crystal in the window that reflects light at a certain time of the day. It is hilarious watching her chasing the light on the floor! At first, I thought, 'What IS she DOING?' The puppy barks at her crazy mom chasing the light! They chase sticks and need a little coaxing to 'Drop it!' She is smarter than her puppy and will hide if she thinks you are about to put her back in the cage. I just take her by the collar and gently coax her with the firm command to, 'Walk!' But, she runs to her cage for a treat! I ask, 'Do you want some?' And, she runs to her cage. But, of course, lately, I have had to cage her so often, just so she is completely controlled around my new guests. I think Lulabelle is on to me! She hides or just stops in her tracks and lays on her back for an impromptu belly rub so I cannot move her! Anything to avoid going to the cage so soon! She has been raised with a lot of people in my family around, and if left out of the cage all day with family, she just minds her own business once she gets used to everyone being there. When new people walk in the door, Lulabelle barks LOUD. It is then that I command her 'Off!' so she does not jump up, and 'Off!' to get off the couch. She has been around two toddlers, and the toddlers have crawled in their cages with Lula and her puppy! But, still, I would never say to trust any dog around toddlers! All-in-all, Lula is a very loving dog who deserves a good family to love her! I pray she gets adopted soon! (Less)

She is very, very loving! She still thinks she is a puppy and loves to jump up on my lap and sleep, or lay next to me on the couch. She is very loving, but, she gets a little excited when she first comes out of her cage. I just tell her 'Out!' so that she and her mother go straight out to the back yard in the morning through the doggy door. Then, she settles down a bit! Chula's fur is perfect! It is long enough to be furry, and short enough to rarely ... (Read More)need a shampooing! She readily takes a shower and tolerates shampoo and conditioner with a good rinse. She has never gotten sick. She has never had any shots. She is not Spayed. She has rarely gone on a walk. She is a house dog, jumps on the couch, and runs to her cage inside my bedroom. She sits, and lays, on command, for a treat, and readily runs to her cage for a treat! I was told that her mother attacked to the kill, so, I never took the chance of bringing them both out! That was not fair to the Puppy. I was afraid of the mother hurting another dog. The mother cried to the high heavens if I took her puppy out without her! Since then, they have separate cages and Mom has let the puppy not be with her all the time. She has had a good, protected life, and they have been fed Canidae ALS since day one. I actually only wanted her mother, but, I found out that they were a 'package deal' and just took them both! Time flies when you are having fun! I can hardly believe that four years has passed since I took them in! Chula is very protective of me. I broke my leg a couple years back, and that was another reason I could not handle them both on a walk! So, we have lived inside and have gone only in the back yard. I now operate a Bed and Breakfast with new people coming in and out all day long, and cannot take the chance of Chula being protective of me when a new guest is just trying to come inside! She needs training, she is very smart! She could be a 'Frisbee' dog with a little bit of influence! Lulabelle is her mother. She is now jealous of her puppy, Chula! I am not afraid of them, I am just trying to interrupt their cognitive behavior, so they do not make it a bad habit. They both have been raised with a lot of people in my family around, and if left out of the cage all day with family, they just mind their own business once they get used to everyone being there. BUT, when new people walk in the door, Chula will bark and rush at the person walking in the door. It is then that I command her 'Off!' so she does not jump up, and 'Off!' to get off the couch. They also have been around two toddlers, and the toddlers have crawled in their cages with them! But, still, I would never say to trust any dog around toddlers! They are just dogs and have instincts, and FOOD talks! Toddlers have food all over them at times! All-in-all, Chula is very loving and needs to be trained. She wants you to be proud of her! She is a good dog that I pray will get a loving home! (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Update: Benji is off of all medication. He is doing great at the trainer/boarding facility. He is on natural supplements for his joints, but heck at his age, he should be and he is doing great. Please see updated photos. Love this boy Meet Benji, He is an Australian Shepherd, tricolored with a long beautiful coat and two toned eyes. He is happy, playful, energetic and loving. He has been in training for the last few years and here is what she had to say. Benji is 9 years old. He has come a long way. He does have some social issues but over the last few years, the trainer has been working on him and he can be around a pack of dogs. He ... (Read More)would work best with a firm handle that knows how to handle dogs. He is very smart and loving and eager to please his owner. He has lived with another female for the last 7 years, though they are having issues now, it does show his compatibility with other dogs. The trainer believes the issue between Benji and his sister is due to her decline in health and signs of dementia and disorientation. There is now a stress between them because he does not understand what is going on and why she acts strangely at times. HE is crate trained and house broken. He is up to date on all of his shots and is neutered. The trainer has used an E collar on him which he responds to very well. The E-Collar is used infrequently now because he listens and responds to commands and cues. Usually, the collar is used to help redirect his energy. Health Issues: He has skin allergies, which he takes a pill every day. (4 mg of methylprednisolone). This costs about approximately $1 day. Training; Benji is very smart and learns new commands quickly. Though he is 9 years old, he has a lot of energy and does best when he has a task at hand to help refocus his energy. This boy has a lot of life and love to give. He will be a perfect dog for someone who is patient, active and knows how to handle a strong and energetic dog. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

**Sorry, we cannot adopt outside the Southern California area*** DOB: June 2005 || BREED/COLORING: Australian Shepherd and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix - red (he has one blue eye and one brown eye) || SIZE: Bloo weighs about 40bs and is full grown || HISTORY: Bloo was dumped at a City Shelter by his family in late 2005. We saw him at a big adoption event and decided to get him out of the shelter before he was euthanized. || PERSONALITY: Bloo is an amazing boy. He is very sweet and smart and absolutely LOVES to be petted and brushed. He makes gurgling noises when you scratch his neck and he's just waggy and friendly all the time. || TRAINING: ... (Read More)Bloo knows SIT and is great on leash when he has a good handler. He will need some re-work on his housebreaking, but is so smart it won't take long. He is also great with a crate - so he could be crate trained really easily too. || WOULD DO BEST: Bloo would like a yard for sure - maybe even another doggie to hang out with. He would do great with someone who has at least some experience with dog training - and would probably REALLY do well at agility training. || CATS/DOGS/KIDS: Bloo has been around indoor cats his whole life and is indifferent to them. He is great with other dogs on a one-on-one basis - but isn't recommended for dog parks because he will try to referee any doggie argument that takes place :) Bloo would make a FANTASTIC family dog for homes with children. || VET RECORD :All of our dogs are currently vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.     Australian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
