Hi, I'm Prince in Port Hueneme, CA and I am also fondly called Bo-Bo Bear since I'm fuzzy and cuddly like a bear! I'm a super sweet 10 year old guy that was an owner surrender due to her losing her home. I am neutered and UTD on all my shots. I am a little on the heavy side, but have lost at least 8 pounds since being with my foster family & becoming more active. I would need my fur-ever family to keep me active with daily walks and outside soccer time. I REALLY like food, and would really like you to share yours with me, but please don't give in to my cute little face as sharing my have been part of my heaviness. I have become better at not ... (Read More)begging as much, but I'm definitely a work-in-progress! I'm super fuzzy as my beautiful black-tri coat is growing back in. I had a skin issue that my previous owner couldn't figure out & they thought it would be better if I was shaved. My skin is all cleared up now & my coat is coming back in nicely. Now that I'm a bit more settled, I'm turning into quite the 'velcro' dog, always at your feet or as close as I can get! I ride great in a car & I love long walks on the beach or around the neighborhood, but I don't care to make friends with other dogs when I'm out, I get pretty anxious about them being near me. I can't decide if I want to play or if I feel threatened. I would probably do best if I was an only dog in the home as I have some issues with resource guarding, mainly with toys. But if I did have a fur-sibling, a super chill female (spayed of course) might be ok. Likewise, no younger children in the home either. Their quick movements make me nervous and I don't like to feel crowded by anyone. Teenagers should be fine as I really love the ones who I live with now at my foster home. I have not been tested around cats or other animals, so I don't know how I feel about them. I'll be bringing with me an awesome pop-up crate & food storage container, and of course my favorite ball. I can't wait to meet you!! %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BDhttp://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-applicat%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD| (Less)

This pretty Australian Shepherd girl is Lucy. She is a 7 month's old pup who currently weighs about 20 pounds. Lucy is a nice pup looking for a home who wants to keep her busy and do some training. So far, she is crate trained and working on house training. She is nice with men, women, and kids.     This is Blackjack in Hayward, CA! He is a DREAMBOAT!!!! Blackjack is a very intelligent, bonding and beautiful dog. His previous owner lost her home and that is how Blackjack came to us. He is a beautiful BIG AKC registered blue merle. We would love for this sweet boy to find a family of his own. Although he has been living with both our dogs while here, we believe he'd enjoy having a home as an only dog or with a calm female. He walks like a dream on a leash, stays very close when off leash. Loves riding in the car and loves the wind in his face. He waits patiently at meal time, does not beg at all and occasionally likes to play with a soft ... (Read More)toy with a squeaker. He needs a home that will continue to give him daily walks, he's walking a mile at a time now, and lots of affection. He is a true 'velcro' aussie, follows me everywhere and always at my feet when I'm sitting. Blackjack loves everyone! He loves kids and men but especially women. Blackjack has tested well with cats and really pays them little attention. DOB /11/06 Here is our application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application (Less)

Handsome Bear was turned in, along with 3 cats, by his owner who could no longer keep them. Bear is an Australian Shepherd Mix who is 8 years old and weighs approx. 85 lb and has light colored eyes. This sweet ol' guy is friendly and undemanding. He doesn't ask for a lot, just a loving home where he can be a loyal companion. He'd love to follow you around all day just to be near you. Bear has been neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. He injured the ligament in ... (Read More)his left hind leg and takes daily anti-inflammatory/pain medication. By adopting an older pet such as Bear, you make a statement about compassion and the value of all life at all ages. You can give Bear the best years of his life while at the same time bringing a wonderful addition into your family. $75 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of dog rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. We are looking for adopters who are willing and able to care for this dog for its lifetime (10+ years). Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Local adoptions only; within 75 mile radius because we deliver animal to its new home to do a home/yard check. Please note: L.A. and Orange Counties are out of area because of traffic and difficult, time-consuming drive.) We prescreen potential adopters before setting up a meeting. . If interested in this animal, please email us with a little info about you, your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city, home or apt?), what type of home you would provide and what type of dog you are looking for--an inside dog, an outside dog or? Thank you. Our adoption process involves meeting the animal, either at Petco in Menifee on Saturdays from 10-2 or by appointment on other days at the rescue in Quail Valley. We have the best interest of the animal in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. We have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match or fit for the animal. If you like the animal and we both feel it is a good match, an application and adoption contract is completed. A convenient day/time is arranged for us to deliver the animal to its new home to do a home check (to make sure the home and yard are safe and secure). We will collect the adoption fee (cash only) when we deliver the animal to its new home. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the animal has a good permanent home and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the animal a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. Going to a new home with new people and a new environment is traumatic and stressful. It will take time for the animal to become comfortable around you and his/her new home. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the animal and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks. During this time we will hold the adoption fee and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the animal and we will refund your adoption fee. (Less)

He is also is good on leash and polite in the car, so he is ready to go on adventures. That said, he will be a solid hiking partner. He isn't likely to want to be a dog beach kind of guy because he prefers quieter outdoor activities. Sir Frost knows how to make you feel very special when you come home. He wiggles and jumps in happiness to see you. He also loves to lay his head in a lap and get attention. Sir Frost is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is ready to meet potential adopters. Adoptions must be finalized in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

This handsome boy is looking for his forever home. He is super cute (obviously!), super sweet and super smart. Drax is just a very happy boy overall. He is approx. 20 months old and is deaf, but he does react to certain tones. He knows 'sit' and 'come' and we are working on more. He is very treat motivated and easy to train. He is crate trained, loves car rides and walks and LOVES everyone! He loves to kiss and cuddle and would make the ultimate companion dog. Drax would not do well in a home where his people work all day while he is left alone; he would need a doggie friend to hang with for that to be a successful fit. We can't say anything ... (Read More)bad about him; he deserves the absolute best of everything and we will be very selective about where he goes. If you would like more information and/or photos please feel free to contact me. Thank you for taking the time to read about this very special baby! (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

**Sorry, we cannot adopt outside the Southern California area*** DOB: June 2005 || BREED/COLORING: Australian Shepherd and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix - red (he has one blue eye and one brown eye) || SIZE: Bloo weighs about 40bs and is full grown || HISTORY: Bloo was dumped at a City Shelter by his family in late 2005. We saw him at a big adoption event and decided to get him out of the shelter before he was euthanized. || PERSONALITY: Bloo is an amazing boy. He is very sweet and smart and absolutely LOVES to be petted and brushed. He makes gurgling noises when you scratch his neck and he's just waggy and friendly all the time. || TRAINING: ... (Read More)Bloo knows SIT and is great on leash when he has a good handler. He will need some re-work on his housebreaking, but is so smart it won't take long. He is also great with a crate - so he could be crate trained really easily too. || WOULD DO BEST: Bloo would like a yard for sure - maybe even another doggie to hang out with. He would do great with someone who has at least some experience with dog training - and would probably REALLY do well at agility training. || CATS/DOGS/KIDS: Bloo has been around indoor cats his whole life and is indifferent to them. He is great with other dogs on a one-on-one basis - but isn't recommended for dog parks because he will try to referee any doggie argument that takes place :) Bloo would make a FANTASTIC family dog for homes with children. || VET RECORD :All of our dogs are currently vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
