Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Maddie, a 3 year old red/white Australian Shepherd and I weigh 53 pounds. I have been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. I am looking for a new home because I was brought to vet to be euthanized because I was fence fighting, wrecking the fence and the neighbors complained. Lots of dogs fence fight out of boredom and looking for something to do. It is not a reason to kill me! I am thankful I was saved. I am looking for a home where I will be part of the family and I will be your loyal companion. I am a very nice dog, very sweet and friendly. I get along well with other dogs and cats. Local adoptions only; within 75 mile ... (Read More)radius because we deliver animal to its new home to do a home/yard check (Less)

Some training but when excited wants to jump on you if you are the one to tell him no and push him back he's fine if someone else tries to pull him away he snaps and scratches at you. He has been around my grandson and 3 other dogs, and is good but has snaped at grandson. Inconsistent when he gets excited. Don't want to take the chance of possible biting my grandson. He bit and scratched at our daughter-in-law when she took a sucker away from Calvin who had just taken it from our grandson. Ended up with several scratches that we put band aids on.

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00296Chico - Courtesy List (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chico is listed by us as a courtesy to his current owners/family. They have had a very big change in their housing situation and can no longer provide Chico with the home he deserves. If you are interested in meeting him, please read through to the end to find out how to submit an application and pictures of your yard and fence line. We will forward information from qualified adopters to his owners who will then make arrangements to set up a meeting. His owner writes: This is Chico. He is a 10 year old male miniature Australian Shepard. Chico's birthday is March 5, 2005. He is neutered and chipped. Chico is a very obedient dog and is ... (Read More)trained with basic commands such as sit, stay, come lay down, up and he can jump for you. He is also good on and off leash, he's not going to make a break for it. He loves your basic milky bone and refuses any good quality treats with the exception of greenies. He is easy to please and loves to be outside and explore open spaces. He would be best suited in a house hold with older kids or just a person of his very own. He tolerates other dogs, but will chase any cats. Chico just wants to be loved and have a special person in his life that will fall in love with his quirky personality. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00005Ginny (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ginny, a 4 year old Australian Shepherd mix who weighs about 49 pounds. With her nice, smooth coat, perhaps she is also part Lab or Pointer? We don't know. Her Australian Shepherd mom didn't tell us! Ginny is a smartie pants. She knows sit, down, come, stay, wait, heel, and fetch. She do know other permission commands such as OK, release, and you're free. While she does once in a while get distracted by something exciting like a cat, she does all she can to be a very good listener. Ginny is house and crate trained. She sleeps in her crate at night. She does prefer to have outside access during the day, but only if the yard doesn't ... (Read More)lead to fences with dogs on the other side. She can cause quite a stir barking at dogs on the other side of the fence. Ginny has lived with large and small dogs. However, as is typical with the breed, she is bossy. She prefers a dog that lets her be the queen and isn't too excited or in her face. Another mellow dog, preferably a male, would be fine. Ginny loves her own people. As is typical of the breed, she does prefer polite introductions to new people. She is can also be protective of her home. So, a home that knows how to help a dog feel confident and ensures polite introductions is important for Ginny. That said, with her own people, she enjoys a game of fetch with a ball. She is a funny girl in that she will only fetch a ball. Apparently other toys or items like a stick aren't her thing. Just the ball. If you toss the ball in the pool, she will jump right in! Ginny is a dog who will thrive with an active person or family. She is nice on the leash and can get excited enough with the thought of an adventure to pull a bit. Reminders are helpful. She is also wonderful in the car. She has taken long road trips and is a very polite girl. Ginny is a special girl who just needs a situation that works for her, meaning a situation that knows how to manage a herding dog who has the usual herding dog quirks. She loves to follow the rules and loves obedience training. She also will appreciate being the only dog or having a male dog pal who lets her rule the roost. She loves belly rubs is very in tune with her person. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Ginny is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is ready to meet qualified adopters in Southern CA. Hello I'm mimi I'm a sweet 3 1/2 year old girl who was raised with Chihuahua's so I think I'm a big chihuahua. I love to cuddle but when I do I want to be on you not next to you. I was abandoned by my previous owner he locked me in a car in the heat of summer and left me there to die! I was so scared when I came to the rescue but I was fed really well and became a little lazy so I'm a little fat but I'd love a family who would take me on walks and let me run around in a big yard I love kids and will look for anyone and stick my butt on them for those ...     I need to find a new home for my beloved dogs, Echo and Charlie. I have had them since they were puppies, and I honestly do not want to have to find them a new home, but I had to move in with my parents after lost my job and they have large dogs who are beating up on them. I have a job now, but it does not afford me enough to have a place of my own. I have done everything I can to make the situation work, but for their own safety I need to find a home for them. It's just not a good situation, and I love them too much to see them get hurt by my parents dogs. They are 3 years old, a mix of Pug, Australian Shepherd and Min-pin. They are ... (Read More)brother and sister and both neutered. They are completely potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and follow basic commands. They are very well socialized and do well with children and other animals (chickens excluded). They love driving in the car, and do very well when I take them places. They would make wonderful dogs for a family or someone who needs a companion. They are not very big, each is about 29 pounds. They need to stay together; I am not willing to separate them. I am asking for $150 as an adoption fee, however this is only a means of my being assured that whoever takes them would be really committed to keeping them. This is negotiable.I simply need to know that they are going to a home where they will be loved and cared for. I would be willing to give them away to the right person or family. If you are interested, or have questions, please send me a text or give me a call ASAP. 760-521-1459 (Less)

Since they are a bonded pair, one adoption fee covers both of these beauties. Duke is still studying the particulars of leash walking and housebreaking.     Meet Angel. This sweet love showed up at a kind woman's house one night in terrible condition. She took her to the shelter in hopes of an owner showing up-perhaps she had been missing a long time? You just never know. Well, no owner showed up so she was in need of rescue who would help to restore her faith! She was so sad, very shy, and had a horrible skin condition. Angel is around 9 or 10 years old and weighs around 50 lbs. She is GORGEOUS! The fur on her back end is completely gone but in time will reappear because her life is now looking up! She's getting the best care any dog could ever hope to have! Angel is now spayed, has had a ... (Read More)dental, is current on vaccinations and is microchipped. She would love to be the only dog in a home at this point. More information available on our website. (Less)

The Australian Shepherd, or Aussie, is a playful breed that provides excellent companionship to active children. Aussies are smart, trainable, protective, and eager to please. lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
