Animal ID: 120213Baby Brie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Baby Brie and her litter mates, Bleu, Cheddar and Colby, are simply adorable. Their mama is definitely a Border Collie (in one of the pictures) and it appears the papa may have been an Australian Shepherd and even possibly some lab mixed in there. Whatever their mix, they are smart, playful, affectionate, and as said earlier, simply adorable. These pups came from a shelter where they were brought with their mama and we were able to rescue them at about two weeks of age. Now around eight weeks old, they will be spayed/neutered in about a week and ready to go to new homes. We would like to find homes for the pups where their family ... (Read More)has some experience with Border Collies or some other herding breed since they will be smart dogs that bond closely with their people and will want to work alongside them. They are already showing their 'herding' instincts which is very entertaining to watch. If you are interested in Brie or one of her littermates please go to our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and click on Adoption Process. There you can read about what you need to do and find a link for the application you'll need to complete and submit for pre-approval. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.      Monte is a beautiful boy in need of a new home. We got him from a rescue in Texas. He traveled well. Although at first he was a bit on the shy side the first few days. After all, California is nothing like Texas! Now that he has settled in he is comfortable and glad to take his walks with the volunteers. He appears to be house trained and keeps a clean kennel. Monte is a quiet boy who does not bark much in his kennel. We think he may be mixed with a bit of Aussie or Saint Bernard. He has those lovely blue eyes. Monte has played with several of our shelter dogs and does well with them. We aren't sure how he is with cats but can certainly ... (Read More)test him here at the shelter. Please give this boy a home where he will be loved and cared for. He deserves it! (Less)

I cannot keep them in apartment - it's not fair to them. Luke lives to play fetch with a ball. Leia plays volleyball with a balloon. She would be an amazing agility dog. Very athletic. Both are very sweet. They've never been separated for long and probably need to be adopted together.

Mica is a 6month old (sept 7 appx dob) Mini Aussie x Golden mix. extra small, perfect for any sized home and activity level! he is the BEST bed buddy i have ever had, i have fostered well over 100 dogs and he's the sweetest, he puts his head on your shoulder and doesnt move a muscle unless you do, all night long. Energetic and gentle. Loves toys and just being around the family. this is a fantastic dog for a family with kids--he is so great with them. Crate Trained! Fun to take on walks, LOVES the dog park, playing fetch and sunning himself. Enjoys baths/standing in the kiddie pool. great with other dogs, good with cats. Neutered and up to ... (Read More)date on shots. will be a great addition to any family. adoption fee $250. UPDATE 4/1/14 - Mica sustained a broken fibula (small bone in the lower half of the hind left leg) today. Not too sure how this happened, but he loves to run and wrestle with the other dogs and he is the smallest of all of them... so we imagine that he got his leg landed on or run into the wrong way. Vet says he isnt in much pain right now, he is on pain meds for any discomfort and they are very effective. will He will make a full recovery and there will be no long term side effects, and since he is so young he will heal quickly and fully. He has a splint on and is stuck on kennel rest for the next 6 weeks. He enjoys the extra time he is getting to snuggle and he's always loved being carried around :) (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered

I have a few sharpei mixes and my financial situation forces me to downsize as I've already defaulted on my mortgage and need to place some horses (mustangs) and cats as well. Nello is a very intelligent young sharpei crossed with an aussie mother. He's excellent for coyote patrol but goes after smaller varmints like moles, skunks, squirrels and an outdoor cat or two. He's good with my indoor cats however, but I do not trust him with them outside if they run or spat at him. I believe he can be taught to protect as he has the intelligence to train. I have his litter mate and need to keep only one dog. He's very healthy and only had a ... (Read More)rabies vaccination for the county as I know they are dangerous for any animal or human. I prefer he go to an owner of like mind. The breeder had his tail cut and dew claws removed which I also do not support. He weighs approx. 55 lbs., is tall and can run VERY fast. He may be able to train for dog trials with his natural herding instinct. He helps me get the horses back into the pasture if they get out. I love him very much and will miss him. (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
