Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Raine! I may look big, but I'm only about forty pounds. I'm about a year and a half old, and within that short time frame, I've had a pretty hard life. When I was younger, my previous owners did not treat me great, and they would let their other dogs treat me just as mean. I don't understand'| I just want to love, play, and be around my family. Because of this, I'm awfully skittish of the world around me; I tend to be afraid to step out and meet people and other dogs'| I also tend to be protective of my food because I used to have to fight the big dogs at my old house just to eat. When I was taken out of that situation ... (Read More)and placed with my foster family, I started out being scared because the people who were going to care for me also had dogs. As time went by, and with love and care from this family, I have opened up a lot more. Instead of being afraid to go outside or be social, I now love my foster dog-sister and like to go outside (and sometimes I just don't want to come in) My foster mom has given me chances to learn and do new things. I found out I love going on car rides, and if you put me in the front seat, I'll either sit there and keep you company or I'll just fall asleep, both without any fear of being in the car. I have found that walks are pretty nice, though there are moments that scare me, such as cars passing by; but with some gentle coaxing, I'll continue with the walk. I also love to play games such as chase and tug of war. I'm pretty cooperative when it comes to baths, but getting a brush-down is where it's at. I can sit for a very long time and enjoy that. I don't really care too much to go to the vet, mainly because of new people and animals, but give me some time and I'll cooperate. I'm pretty housebroken, and I've been spayed. I also know how to sit when you tell me to. I don't really know any other tricks or commands, but I'm willing to learn from someone caring and patient. I am playful, energetic, and full of love. With love and support from a caring and patient family, I would love to share my caring, sweet nature and learn new things. If you are interested in making this pup part of your family, please fill out our adoption application:http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application Adoption fee is $275 and all proceeds go towards future adoptions (Less)

Animal ID: 1Riley (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Riley was a drop-off in front of my house about 6 years ago. He was only 3 months old at most. I have had him all this time. Last year, I got a new next-door neighbor. Riley was friends with the previous owners' dogs, and he is used to being over there. Also, they just left their outside dogs there, and I took care of them, so they live with me now. These 2 dogs still go over there. My neighbor has threatened to shoot and kill them. They are both in imminent danger, not of being euthanized, but of being shot and/or killed. I do not have the money to keep them or move out. I am trying to find people willing to ... (Read More)foster all 18 of my dogs so that I can fix the house up in order to afford to move. I am hoping to find good people who might be willing to do this for a few months. Riley is just one of 18. He is very sweet, but can be agressive when outside and faced with strangers or other dogs. He should be in a home with a fence and kept by himself but given affection, as he is an affectionate dog. Please, serious calls only. (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Arkansas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
