Rescue Me ID: 17-06-25-00177Lizzy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

After going back and forth for a long time (2 years), we need to rehome our Australian/German shepherd. We are heartbroken and do not take this lightly. She has leash aggression towards other dogs and is protective over our house towards other dogs. She has shown promise on the Gentle Leader. Otherwise, she is a great dog. We love her. My kids treat her like a horse and a pillow and dress her up. They wrestle. She wrestles with our long-haired dachshund and never hurts a hair on any of their heads. She will require a fully fenced back yard with no places to escape or large place to run with an invisible fence or perimeter fence. She is ... (Read More)extremely smart. She learns tricks very quick and responds well to positive reinforcement. She is completely house trained, crate trained and doggie door trained. If someone has the means to afford to train her properly for the aggression, she would be perfect. Unfortunately, we can't. Serious inquiry only. Adoption subject to vet reference, personal reference and possible home visit. Lizzy is a member of our family that we love very much and we want to make sure that we find the right fit. Adoption fee negotiable to the right family. Thank you for your consideration. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-10-00377Trudy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Trudy!! She's a spunky 1 1/2 year old australian shepherd mini mix. Great with other dogs and completely ignores our cats (can't say the same for the cats though). Trudy is around 15 pounds so she's the perfect size to have indoors and as a traveling buddy! Seems to be house and crate trained. She's not too sure of the chickens and perks up those cute ears when she hears them making racket outside. She might not be good for children under 5 simply because she gets overly excited and doesn't respect the space of the little ones. All she wants is attention and lots of belly rubs. If you been thinking about another pet to open your home ... (Read More)and heart to please consider Trudy!! She's been spayed, current with vaccines, on HW and flea prevention and will be microchipped prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting Miss Trudy please complete an application on our website indicating Trudy sent you. Adoption fee of $200 applicable with approved application. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Blackie will tug at your heart strings! His face, his demeanor and bubbly personality is all it takes! Chained his entire life and then freed to explore, be loved and live in a home. This beautiful older boy is easy going and just wants attention and to have a forever home! Black is approx., 8 yrs old, 35 pounds, lab/Aussie mix; great with other dogs and enjoys playing with them whenever he gets a chance, it is like a puppy bulb went off on him and he realizes that all is well, and it is just fine to pounce, play fight, run, bark and have a good time with other dogs. He likes being with others but is just fine on his own as well. He is eager ... (Read More)to please and wants to be inside with you. He has grown accustomed to sleeping in the bed with a person and with another dog. He is more energetic compared to his brother Brownie also needing a home but compared to normal dogs his energy level is about average. Loves to walk on a leash and will talk to you when you ask if he wants to go. Will definitely let you know when someone is at your door or has pulled up into your drive. Not a digger, not destructive, no bad habits. Black will require a home where he is strictly an inside dog that get walked daily or a home with a privacy fence. He can be adopted alone or if at all possible with his brother Brownie. To adopt Blackie please go to our website and complete the pre-adoption application http\://www.southernskiesrescue.org Black is fully vetted and microchipped. (Less)

lnteresting Australian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Alabama Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Australian Shepherds are descended from Spanish dogs that were used for herding Merino sheep. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
