Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00373Boomer (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Boomer a smiling Chocolate Lab/ Aussie Shepherd mix. His smile will take your breath away! Boomer is around11 months old, 60 - 65 pounds, sweet and a very affectionate boy! Boomer is full of energy that will require plenty of exercise, consistency and routine, but he does know how to relax too. He ideally would love to be with an active family that would include him in all family activities. He enjoys running, playing and just spending time with people and being around other dogs. He would do well with a family with teens so he can pal around with them or he would pair well with an active individual that works from their home office or ... (Read More)a stay-at-home that wants a great companion. Boomer is fine around other dogs, walks good on a leash and has learned not to jump up on people. Boomer has made tremendous progress for a young dog on how to act indoors versus outdoors. He will still need some training since he is young, but he does know basic cues like sit, come and get in your crate. Boomer listens when called and is treat motivated and has been already crate trained and house broken. Boomer would require a big fenced yard so he has plenty of room to run and play. He loves to be near you and curled up next to you wherever possible, belly rubs and kisses, so don't be alarmed when he lays on his back or kisses you and cracks a smile. He is a good boy! Boomer deserves his forever home and a family that will love him. Boomer is fully vetted; neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines and heart worm negative and on prevention plus microchipped! Please consider sweet Boomer! If interested please go to our website and complete the preadoption application http\://www.southernskiesrescue.org (Less)

Animal ID: 1130Maggie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello all! My name is Maggie and I am an Australian Shepherd mix (possibly with catahoula) who is excited to find my very own furever family! I'm about 1.5 years old and approximately 26lbs, so I'm on the smaller side. Some of you may remember me from my somewhat viral first Facebook appearance when I was found with a broken leg left at a shelter in rural Alabama with my little puppy, Sadie! (Now ASF Alumi, Winter!) I had surgery on my leg (yuck!) and had to recover from that but I was determined to heal quickly and get back to running full speed, and here I am doing just that! You can barely tell it even happened once I get warmed up, but I ... (Read More)do have a slight limp when I first wake up and sometimes I stop using my leg that was hurt but only for a moment and it doesn't slow me down a bit! I am always happy, sweet and loving, I love to run and play, and I LOVE playing with kids. My foster mom's 2 youngest babies are always covered in Maggie kisses! I am good with other dogs, good in a kennel, and my foster mom says just a good little dog all around! I'm medium energy... I adjust to what everyone else is doing. I'm good inside and don't jump on people, I can lay at your feet or run the back yard at full speed and be happy either way. My foster mom doesn't have any cats but she thinks I would do fine with cats as nothing really bothers me and I don't bark much at all. I am awaiting heartworm treatment and will be spayed before being adopted, but my time is coming and I will be ready before we know it!!! If you are interested in adopting Maggie please fill out an application at http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application. Her adoption fee is $275 all proceeds go towards future rescues. (Less)

Australian Shepherds are not Australian; they were developed in the United States for herding livestock on American ranches. Aussies can be trained to perform tricks. Aussies are often used by police for narcotics detection. Some Australian Shepherds are prized for their beautiful merle coloring, but the gene that causes this coloring also results in deafness or blindness.
